      My Experience Trying To Fly.

      *
      Hi.*
I've been trying to lucid dream since the 30th June, so just over a week now and thanks to this forum with all the tecniques people have shared I've been lucky and had 3 LD so far.*
The first lasted for just 1 minute, the second for 2 and the third (which I had just last night) lasted for about 6 and half.*
I know the reason the last one lasted longer was because I really paid attention to detail and performed many RC untill the end where I forgot too and then started to lose it.

In my first LD the first thing I new I wanted to do was fly.*
I ran a little and jumped with my arm out up into the air but had trouble tricking the brain to break gravity*because it felt so real, and was pulled back down to Earth. *
I tried a couple of times but apart from staying in the air longer the second time couldn't get airborne.*

On my second LD I tried again exactly the same way as before and the result was exactly the same, pulled down by gravity as in real life.
So I thought about what I had read on the forum and remembered someone saying to try to imagine you have wings, then flap them to fly.*
That sounded good so I tried it but it didn't work. (I think I could get these things to work when I've had more LD.
At the moment I'm a little worried that if I concentrate to much I will lose the dream, so basically if it dosen't work right away I move on).
Then I imagined I was weightless and started flapping my arms.*
It worked, I started lifting up off the ground and my legs rose up over my head like I was spinning slowly in anti gravity.*
I only got about 10-15 feet off the ground (not exactly sawing like an Eagle) but I was airborne and it was a start.*

Now my LD last night was on a diferent leval.
They were all very real but this, man I had to keep doing Reality Checks before I did anything to crazy, because even though I new I was dreaming from my first RC, it just seemed so real I was worried it actually was and I'd make and idiot out of myself by saying "look I can walk through this wall" and end up walking straight into it, or doing something much, much worse.
I step into the bathroom to double check this is a dream and even the RC start to not work.*
I looked at the back of my hand and expected to see 6 fingers (which got me lucid in the first place) and it looks normal, only 5 fingers.*
So I try to push my right index finger through my left palm and it dosen't work.
Im still pretty sure I'm dreaming because of the first checks I did at the very begining of the dream but have to make sure so I try holding my nose (which I've never tried in dream before) and I could breath easily.

I open the door and there's a long corridor to the opposite room where I know people are, so I think let's try to fly again.
I'd read another post on the forum a couple of days before about not trying to fly up at first because the brain finds it hard to conquer gravity but to fly laterally.
That sounded like a good idea so I tried it, and bingo, worked like a charm, I'M FLYING BABY!! (only about 2 foot off the ground but I'm flying straight and controlled right into the other room.*

So after all that trying to fly you would think I'd be jumping straight out the window and really going for it, but I couldn't resist messing with all the people in the room as in my other two LD there was no one*around.*
I'll just have to wait till next time to truly take to the skies. *

Yup, that's solid progress right there, keep it up. To have that many lds so fast is very lucky, make sure you know that.

I agree, that's a lot of lucid dreams in a short time period! Hmm...I've only ever tried to fly once so far in all my lucid dreams...and it worked. I was probably 20 ft off the ground maybe?

Yeh I know it's lucky, hope it lasts.
I've always had really good dream recollection.
When I started writing down my dreams I was already remembering 3 or 4 a night, and now in that short time I'm remembering 5 to 6 dreams a night, I think that helps a lot.
I've tried WILD a few times, felt the buzz and wave of SP but when I've felt it think yes it's working and get a little pumped, then I'm to conscious again and it goes.

      PanzerCommander.

      First time flyer, sweet.
Before I had a LD I thought I would fly easy, I've flown in loads of normal dreams.
Must be something to do with being conscious.
Maby I over thought it I donno,*oh well, I'm there now.*
Next time I'm lucid I'm gonna try to fly into orbit and see what the Earth looks like, maby give the ISS a little fly by.

Jumping into water always helps me fly. Especially really deep bodies of water. Just dive to the bottom and the let the buoyancy just launch you.
Jen was 13 years old. A fairly normal girl. She spent a lot of time online.
One day, she made a new friend. He liked the same bands, worried about the same subjects.
They decided to meet at the local mall. She went. So did he.
Only he wasn't in junior high.
HE WAS A 1500 LB GRIZZLY BEAR.
1 in 5 children online get eaten by wild bears. And you didn't even know bears could type.

Flying and floating are about the only magical things I've done wild lucid dreaming. In fact, my primary RC is to lift my legs off the ground to see if I can float. It works every time too. When flying in an outdoor setting, I usually have trouble getting above the tree tops. But the last time I tried I finally did it. It was awesome!

I flew easily in my first and only LD. I suppose I wasn't totally lucid, but I had some control. I started off at a high place so I was lucky enough that way, but all I did was jump off and didn't think of falling into the sea. It wasn't an option so to speak. So there was only one thing to do- fly!

Yeh I think the more vivid and realistic the Lucid the harder it is to fly (well for me anyway).
A few nights ago I got my first real speed trying to imagien thrusters on my hands an feet like Iron Man and it felt great, like I could feal it in my stomach you know.
Last night however I had an ultra realistic LD and couldn't fly at all, just kept falling to the ground everytime I tried.
I also couldn't go through windows without smashing them or into mirrors and I've easily done these things before.
I think the more realistic the dream the harder to trick the brain, well untill I have more experience anyway.

Well if someone, right now, while you sit by your computer, told you to jump out your window and take off into the air, you wouldn't even consider the possibility that you could do it. It's just a flat out no. So when you have a vivid dream that matches real life, you think you still can't fly. But if you are in an average dream on a blue mountain floating in space in a massive bubble, flying seems pretty normal, so you can picture it, and do it.

I would say to be able to fly better in vivid lucids is to first affirm in your head that it is a dream. Seems simple, but it may be the thing that holds people back because it is so obvious and overlooked.

Hi Man, thats what you call a quick reply.
In this dream I knew I was dreaming and had complete control of my thoughts and actions but like a few of my other Lucid dreams had to keep RCing to make sure.
I tried to jump through somebodys front window and bounced straight off it.
I heard them say what was that and right then thought oh man I better be dreaming or people are gonna start thinking I'm mad trying to jump through peoples windows so I suppose that shows how easy a little doubt creaps in while having a real vivid lucid.

Doubt and negative thinking really impacts lucid dreams. Even hints and things from the outside world can influence your dreams. Like if a dog howls like a wolf really close to your window, you would start to dream or think about everything wolf related. Like when someone says "don't think of an elephant", the same thing happens for dreams.
Thats why you hear people surrounding themselves with dreaming related stuff, like books and music. It gears their mind to think about that stuff, so they dream about it.

I'm sure you have experienced dreams where you recently got a new game, or watched a film or started work somewhere, and suddenly you dream about it? Thats expectation and focus influencing your dreams. If you think about jumping through a window, you imagine a stuntman going through, but you bouncing off. That's why you didn't make it through.

Once you have loads of dreams, you learn to tell the diff between dreams and reality, then then you can go "I'll jump through this window", and you do.

Yeh but the strange thing is I already know I can jump through windows and not break them, I jump through my bedroom window or some other window in my Lucids all the time, same with mirrors.
Well mirrors are a little diferent, they usally start of feeling solid so I push my hand a little harder then it pushes through what sort of feels like a skin, then I put my head through and climb in.
Both times I've gone through a mirror though I was just in another exact opposite room, it's still pretty cool though.

A couple years ago I had this dream I flew by putting these power patches. The blue one was the flying power so I use that in my lucid dream to fly.
I was so much older then, I'm younger then that now.
