      dream control without lucidity?

do you have to be lucid to control your dream? because people have dreams when they think it's real but they make all kinds of things happen and control it and stuff...

well control isnt just something like picking up a book and throwing it it is more like being able to change the setting and stuff so to do that you would have to be lucid (unless you can control reality when your awake, man that would be cool)

Well, to consciously control your dreams, and be aware of what's going on - Yes.

Of course, every decision you make in your dreams is really 'controlling' your dream. So in that way, No.
But then you won't fully appreciate it as a dream.

You dont have to be lucid to control certain aspects of a dream. For example once a fat genie appeared and granted me total control ... Anything I wished for came to the dream reality. And still, I was thinking it was real

There were a lot of occasions where I had some kind of superpower in a normal dream...

yeah of course you can control your dreams but its odd because your not really aware of whats happeneing but the way to do it is to just know you can and youll realize the more you can control kind of odd but its almost conditioning your mind while awake, if you understand that.

I had control but no lucid last night. I guess I was subconsciously aware that I was dreaming, so I had automatic control, like taking rabbits out of my armpit, but I didn't know I was lucid. But later I got lucid, using dream control as my reality check

Like what the others said, a lucid dream is simply being aware that you are dreaming.

      Huh?

I've had several non-lucid dreams where i wasnt lucid, and i still had some lucid control. lots of times i can jump really high without being lucid, once i stopped bullets like Neo and recently i've slowed down time without being lucid. lol its like whenever i'm not lucid i have more control of what i can do. its weird.

Its definately a different kind of control. Put it this way Lucidity gives you control over the dream scenerio from a conscious point of view. Having control and dreaming with the subconscious is like control with no real direction, which is exactly what the subconscious offers all of this control unlimited without any direction. However when you have control within a regular dream it surpasses what you are able to do within a Lucid Dream.
