Problem I always encounter when attaining lucidity

Every time I become aware that I am dreaming, the dream fades away in a matter of seconds. It's hard to explain, but it's as if the whole dream fades to black, and then I wake up. This happens almost all the time! Maybe I get too excited? How can I actually savor my lucid dreams? They last only seconds! I have managed, only a few times, to have long lucid dreams and I would like to have more of them.

Reality checks is what helps me the most. Looking at my hands and focusing on them has 'saved' me a lot of times! Also you should try to stay calm those first moments and stabilize your dream. For instance I always shout "stabilize!" and "clarity!". They both work for me and it prolongs my dream I have been there before, when the dream fades and there's nothing you can do about it to stop it. But even then I have managed to DEILD a couple of times (I'm also a beginner). If you don't know what it is look it up on this forum
      Hope this helped a bit

I agree completely with dreamstudent123 about the hands. Sometimes, though, telling myself to stay calm has led to me waking up, because I get worked up about not losing the dream. Spinning and looking at my hands has proved to have much more success. But honestly, it's great you're to this point! It'll also take some time for the novelty to wear off just enough to make it a bit easier to remain calm. I tend to get over excited often in dreams, and has led to me missing many lucid opportunities. Keep at it!

As I have had a quite amount of lucids I have never spinned in my dreams before...As i think about it, I get the feeling that I would lose even more control and just be completely disoriented. What do you do exactly and where do you end up?

Have you tried giving our Dream Stabilization and Clarity tutorial a read? Maybe you'll find something that works for you. Personally, all I need is a good stare at my hands for a few seconds and all is good, but it took me a few lucids to get the hang of it

I've had a dry spell for about a year and two nights in a row I got lucid, despite my efforts to calm down and stabilize, I quickly woke up much like jonsnow. Thanks for some of the help.

The hand thing definitely works, i read about it last night (not looking at hands for a reality check, focusing on them as described in the Clarity link above) and using a combination of that, deep breaths and pinches i can assure you it really does work! Good luck!

dont look at your feet or bellow your waist . it always seem to snap me out of the dream .

When you do lose lucidity and wake up most of the time it will be a false awakening and you can get lucid and if you stay dead still. So just dont move and try yo go back .

As others have said, looking at your hands will help.

This is because it's a way of engaging the senses of your dream body, immersing yourself more into the dream while simultaneously increasing your awareness. Other ways of doing this are to focus on your senses such as smell or touch. Just take in all the data you can about your environment and you will believe more and more how real it is, and that should extend your dreams.

      Good luck in stabilization!
