      Unhappy Problem attaining lucidity

Hi all! I'm new here and I'm trying to travel in this beautiful expirience called lucid dreaming!

      So, here's my problem.
I'm triyng to lucid dream 1 week now. The wild method didn't work for me so I started practicing in reality checks, so I could go lucid with the MILD one. My problem is that even if I manage do reality checks IN my dreams, I still can't go lucid. Last night i had a dream under the sea breathing normally. Not only I didn't go lucid , in fact I tried to hold my nose and mouth closed underwater to see if i was able to breath and discover if this reallity check was fine for me , but still didn't realised I was dreaming, and of course didn't go lucid. So I ended up fighting with a huge shark. Has anyone from you guys have a solution to my problem? I would be very gratefull!

If you are mindlessly doing reality checks and not actually THINKING about if it works or not then it wont work in dreams. When you do it in real life make sure you think about what happens and what it means. When I do the nose pinch I think "Ok, I cant breathe so I must not be dreaming" and if I didnt hold it properly then I do it again.

Saying "ok it's not a dream" after a reality check is not good. If you rc in a dream and it doesn't work you would be saying that and you would fool yourself xD.

      thank you for your answers!
Actually when a reality check fails when im awake im thinking that I'm awake. But the fact that I was underwater a half hour+ (i discovered a whole civilcation under the sea, saw a lot of creatures there: dragons, tigers, gintic turtles, sharks etc, i was searching ways to go in the surface again, was talking with ppl down there) and didn't realised that somthing strange must be happening here disapointed me a little
