"There is an art, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss."
-the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Seriously though, try diving face-first into the ground and then pulling up at the last second. That's exactly the kind of thing that would work for me, at least. Maybe picture somewhere in the sky that you want to go to, and just decide to travel there, and it'll happen. I always end up flying by jumping very high, and then I'm in the sky and I've completely forgotten the whole idea of gravity or jumping or flying. It's just about getting where I want to go.
