      Question WTF brain!?

I've only had one lucid dream where I gained dream control and didn't 'Over excite' myself into waking up. In it I used the force and made my own secret lair atop snowy mountains so in short it was pretty awesome. This was when I first began to investigate means of having lucid dreams as I hadn't really been able to do it with such clarity and ease since that night. Every time I've become lucid in a dream since then it has always been close to the 'end' or I was unable to gain control.

Were these just dreams about lucid dreams? If such things even exist?

And why is it that my clearest most powerful lucid dream came to me prior to me even knowing what they were?

That happens. Most early lucid dreams tend to be the over excite and wake up variety. But occasionally one gets lucky and gets a lucid dream with good awareness and good control. Just don't worry about it, continue following whichever methods work for you to induce lucid dreaming, be patient, and eventually your dreams will stop being overexcited and short. You could also look into this tutorial Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views for ideas on how to stabilize your lucid dreams, however mostly I think it is just patience and perseverence - your brain has to get used to the excitement of having lucid dreams. Best!

That is just a question you will have to ask yourself. For a dream to qualify as a legit lucid dream, there is only one requirement. That requirement is realizing that you are dreaming while you are actually in the dream itself. You can have tons of control or no control at all. It can be super vivid or a fuzzy incoherent mess. Those factors don't matter for classifying the dream as lucid or not.

Well, at least youve got your foot in the door!

I just have another bit of advice to add to whats already been said:

Dont always be so sure that the dream has completely ended. Sometimes it can fool you into tginking its over and things will just go black.

Next time you think the dream has ended, try not to open your eyes or move. Just relax and chill out and look for another dream scene to start to form.

I used to have the same problem. One night when the dream went dark, I pretended I had a pair if "dream goggles" on my forehead and pulled them down, and bam! I could see the dream again.

When the dream tries to trick you, trick it back.
