There could be two explanations of this, either you had low awareness lucid dream with lack of waking memory or it could have been non-lucid dream about actions that one would do when lucid, though if you are sure that you were really aware of dreaming, then it was lucid, it's really up to you to decide.
Either way, keep practicing awareness and lucid dreaming and don't be discouraged, and think positive, you can control them and with practice it will get better. Do you have a goal list by the way? If not, then make one and read it some times through the day and especially before going to sleep, it can help remembering them in dream, and with them more of waking life memory.
Even though you said no links, i highly suggest checking out those threads: http://www.dreamviews.com/dild/13212...ods-dilds.html and http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...m-control.html . I can understand why you said that, you aren't much into reading, right? But some things are just worth reading so much and it's better to just link them.
As for WBTB technique, the best timing between waking up and going to sleep as well as amount of activity generally varies from person to person, for some people even 5 minutes is too much and for others it can go on for hours, i'd say experiment with it until you find the time where you can still fall asleep while having decent awareness. By the way if you have time during day and can fall asleep you can try napping too, naps are golden for lucid dreaming.
