      Attaining stability and prolonging lucidity

I'm new to this site, so not COMPLETELY sure whether I'm posting this in the right section, so tell me if it's so.

I've tried lucid dreaming for a few months now, and I've only been able to have round 5 dreams until a few days ago. In those, the maximum time I was lucid was around 20 seconds.
Yesterday, I tried SSILD(Senses Induced Lucid Dreaming), and I managed to induce 6 lucid dreams! However, each lasted for around 5-10 seconds.
The problem was, as soon as I try to stabilize the dream via hand rubbing, and concentrating on them, the dream seems to waver, and then I wake up for about a second, and then the next dream starts.
Is there any way I could address this specific issue, cause even before SSILD, prolonging my dreams was my biggest problem.

      Thanks in advance!

EDIT: In the first cycle of SSILD,(the sight stage), I kind of kept falling semi-asleep. Would this have been a problem?

      Welcome LightMikeE!

The thread is in the right place I would say..
Congrats on the lucids, SSILD is a great technique!

So about your problem. I had the same issue when I was starting and still kinda have (probably because I am still kind of a beginner). I would become lucid and bam, I am awake. First off all there should be no reason to wake up really. If you would keep on dreaming non-lucid you wouldn! have woken up, would you? So what helped me is, i just told myself that there is no reason to wake up, its my dream and just expect to stay in the dream!
Number two would be stay calm! You probably think you're calm but you probably arent. When you attain lucidity, kepp calm, take a deep breath (maybe even through your pinched nose), say I am dreaming and then continue to stabilize.
Use all 5 senses and tell yourself that you will have a stabile dream. Shouting commands in the air can help a lot too! Like clarity for dream vividness or stability for well stability. I'd include links but that doesnt work so well with my iPad. Visit dutchraptor's class in the DV academy about stabilization..

      Hope that helped!

EDIT: Check out Mantras and before you go to sleep repeat your mantra that your lucid will be stable!

      Thanks.
I'm not completely sure whether I was calm or not, cause it was really really short!
I'll try affirming the fact that lucid dreams don't need to be short. Thanks for that one. Should work!

Could you tell more about those dreams, how did you become lucid, what did you see and what did you start to do, etc? I would like to hear more of those experiences, specially that last one of 6 lucids. Were they in a chain? I think you possibly didn't wake up at all.

Perhaps you're focusing too much in not waking up once you become lucid? One way I found to skip that waking up issue, was to let it be and focus more on the dream content. I mean, I can chain lucids, aka DEILD, that way, it doesn't actually matter if I wake up, because I Know I'm able to immediately WILD, unless I'm finishing my REM stage which seems not to be the case here.

      Hi,

I can suggest you reading this thread up http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...-hours-ld.html
It is probably one of most effective stabilization techniques out there

As you enter a lucid dream keep yourself calm and relaxed while trying to follow atkins513's tutorial.
      I'm back! Again? Uhhh..

Originally, my lucid dreams were all DILD, and generally contained places from my life, and also places in my imagination(places I've imagined about a lot). I stabilized them by looking at my hands while rubbing them and shouting STABILIZE, but I lost the stability quickly. I managed to conjure fire, fly, turn night into day, and walk on water.

In my 6 lucid dreams(the chain) were most definietely one after the other, and I am almost 100% sure I woke up, so I think they classify as DEILDS.

I'll try your suggestion on focusing on the dream content more next time I become lucid
