      Question What does moving feel like?

      I haven't gotten my first full lucid dream quite yet, but am trying out the WILD and WBTB techniques. I was wondering if there is an obvious different feeling between the dream and real life, so I can know when to open my eyes and do a reality check.

      Also, I was wondering what it's like to walk and move in a dream. Is it like you are just thinking about moving, or is it just like moving a muscle in real life?

      to DreamViews!

      Don't open your eyes. When you are asleep and still aware, you can "see" through your eyelids. That part can get confusing, because there is no indication that you are already asleep. You can only realize it when you "think" you are asleep. Even if you "know" that you are still awake. So when you are WILDing, just do a motionless RC often. Even when you are 100% sure you are still awake. And be ready to get surprised when you float up over your bed just by thinking it, or you move your hand in front of your eyes and you will know it's not really your physical hand. Or you will start playing hula hoop with your intestines.

      All these may sound crazy, and it may happen. But you will still not realize that you are dreaming and all you need to do is stand up and walk away.

      The only thing that will make you realize is your thinking. " I... AM... DREAMING". Let this be your mantra while WILDing and it will remind you that you are dreaming when time is right.

      To your second question:
      For me, it's kinda both sometimes. But when you are fully in a dream, you feel like you are in your body. You may or may not feel different. But you know that it's you, first person view.

      Have fun and ask anything!

      It feels just like how you are used to (that's how the brain creates the experience). It'll be fairly obvious when you are lucid, and there'll be lots of signs just before lucidity, such as hissing in your ear or floating feeling.

      Personally I think that moving around in a lucid dream has a more "floaty" quality to it - I feel a lot lighter, and it's very easy to jump really high.
      However, I also feel that I often move slower than normal, so that one step can sometimes take two seconds or something;
      it can sometimes feels a little bit like walking underwater.

      Faster, floatier and more energised than usual, but otherwise the same for me.
