      Kromoh's Dream control exercise

I decided to make a sketch of an exercise about dream control. I don't really like tutorials about dream control itself, since it is unique to everyone and involves creativity. But practice of dream control can be really useful.

The main secret of this technique is basing on daydreaming and visualisation. If you practice, for instance flying while daydreaming, it gets easier to d oit while dreaming. After all, night dreaming is just a complex daydreaming while in Sleep Paralysis.

      Dream control exercise

This small tut works for visualisation and dream control. Try it when you're slightly relaxed.

      step 1
Locate a small object close to you. Try to get something easy. Now get the Xmen out of you and try to move it with your mind. It doesn't matter if you want to levitate it or just move it; just try to displace the damn object
Now as you try to move it, close your eyes, and imagine it being done (the object actually being moved).
Repeat this until you can get a clear image of the object moving in your mind. And don't worry, the real object won't actually move, I promise

      Spoiler for explanation:

      step 2
Close your eyes, and try to see yourself from a 3rd-person point of view. Really see your body in the position you are now. The more detail, the better. Finally, try to move the view, seeing you from other perspectives. Don't forget to include your surroundings.
You might actually feel like you are leaving your body; but don't worry: it's rather cool. It's just a rationalization your mind does: by seeing yourself from another point of view, it means you are out of your body.
      Spoiler for explanation":

      step 3
---- Skip this is you have schizophrenia.
Close your eyes. Imagine a random acquaintance close to you (pretty much like a Dream Character). Now talk to them, and imagine them answering. Keep on questioning until his/her answer comes somehow naturally: like you weren't the one to make up what he/she said. Treat him/her like someone else, but also like a Dream Character. Tip: try to pick up someone you know well, this task is easier if you know the person well.
      Spoiler for explanation":

      step 4
Close your eyes. Imagine yourself flying. Don't try move your real body: imagine the scenario around you moving instead. You can try to "swim in the air" if this proves hard. Again, the more detail, the better.
In this step, you should actually displace your "dream body". You should leave the place you are at with your mind. Visit your school, your work, Brazil, whatever, as long as you move your dream body in order to get there.
      Spoiler for explanation":

      step 5
Close your eyes. Have in mind the place you are now (e.g. your living room). Choose some place you want to go (e.g. the beach house). Do not try to visualise the beach house yet. Do only imagine the place you are now, but be sure of where you want to go.
After that, try to teleport yourself to the beach house. Really change the scenario, making it as vivid as you can. But really warp yourself: do no fly or run.
Repeat this until you can swap between different scenarios easily, without need for aids (such as scenario spinning etc).
      Spoiler for explanation":

I guess this is it. Criticism is ALWAYS welcome.

Saying quantum physics explains cognitive processes is just like saying geology explains jurisprudence.

Wow! This sounds really helpful! If not in helping with dream control, it will at least stretch our imaginations. These techniques can only be beneficial.

Most of the time when I try to visualize things with my eyes closed, all I see is black with random splotches of colour...
      Lucid Tasks:
Beat my subconcious senseless with a pointed stick
Meet Yoda, and get him to teach me the ways of the Force

I try to visualize something simple almost every night, but the dang apple doesn't want to appear. Most of the time, I can visualize movement much better than static images, although that is still not very clear. I'll try the exercises you suggested, and hopefully they will help. Are they what helped you to get from where I am to seeing the visualisations clearly?

This is a great post, I especially like what you did with the buttons. Makes for a more interactive tutorial/read.

I am going to incorporate these exercises into my daily visualization practice as well, I would say that it is also helpful to conjure up other senses besides vision.

therpgmaker, you might try imagining the crunch and taste of an apple when trying to visualize it. Sometimes these tactile thoughts make it easier for me to fully "see" something when visualizing.
