I found this out a while back. If you want to control something in a dream, use the dreams rules.

Example: Say you were in your house. There are some zombies outside. You think "I'll throw a fireball at them" NO. Use something from the dream itself. Like find a can of lighter fluid, and a lighter from inside your house and spray the fluid through the lighter making a blowtorch.

Here's how I figured it out. I was being attacked by a giant spider machine. It had pinned me down, and I couldn't get up, or move. I looked up at the sky, (it was night) and imagined there was a spaceship up there that I controlled. I gave it an order, and a huge white beam fired out of the sky, and destroyed the spider machine. It tied in with the sci fi aspect of the dream. Giant machines... spaceships can't be too far off.

This is one of the reasons I don't like lucid dreaming as much as I would. It's too real and too hard to get things to do stuff. I'll try thinking I'm a wizard or something, and throw fire, ice, wind, lightening out of my hands but it won't work. However, i had one dream, where I had a playing card that gave me those powers and I was doing it just fine.

Use the DC's if you have to, say something like "I'll give you ten bucks if you bring me a sword of unimaginable power" and they'll probably do it.

Good luck
