      Art of Dreaming

I've read of looking at very single detail in one's dream to retain lucidity.
The only problem is that I have so many wonderful plans for an LD, but once I get a hold of my dreaming attention, I go out of control and just have a neeto time.
Only once did I have my head enough to look at and "observe" every detail in my dream. I remember looking at the most amazing flower I've ever seen.
hmm. but that didnt last too long. Its like lucid ADD, to the max.

dream spinning doesn't work; I end up 'reality spinning' off my bed practically. . .hahaha. .

It seems the best way is to continually scream "IMDREAMINGIMDREAMINGIMDREAMING" at the top of my lungs. but even at that, I usually forget in the middle of screaming to scream, then its back to normal dreaming. . .

      halp! anyone>?

Practice makes perfect, if you keep trying then you will get better at staying in dreams without even trying.

Staying calm is very important. If you stay calm then you will be much more likely to keep on dreaming.
If methods like spinning aren't working for you then you should probably stop using them.
Also, if you ever feel like you are slipping away, and you start to feel your real life body again, try harder to stay in the dream and you will be able to fall asleep again.

It sounds like you just forget that you are dreaming and don't actually wake up. If thats true, you're lucky. It is a lot easier to remain lucid than it is to keep yourself from waking up. From your post, it seems like you are using techniques to keep yourself from waking up. You want to keep your lucidity.

I always like to keep a goal in mind. That way, I can focus on a task and not get caught up in the dream. Like you said, keep reminding yourself that it is a dream. It just takes practice. Keep yourself in that 'reality check' mentality.

yeah most of the LDs I've had have ended/continued into a normal dream state of consciousness.
Giving my self a task like observing every detail I come across has really helped greatly. I feel that works best.
It always makes me laugh how I go from the ecstatic joy and hyperactivity of a lucid dream right into the drudgery of a normal dream. ..like nothing ever happened. . .

Have you tried rubbing your hands together like your cold? I heard this stimulates your senses keeping you aware.

some people have suggested in the past, that its not really what you do in a dream that helps you observe every detail. its what you do in your waking life. are you taking time in your life to 'stop and smell the roses'?

its not some trick that will work instantly in a dream tonight, but it will help dreams in the overall

This technique has worked wonders for me, you should give it a try. Also, yelling out (and really meaning it without a shadow of doubt) "INCREASE LUCIDITY" or something along those lines help me immensely.

If you tend to get excited and go on a LD adventure when you get lucid, don't worry too much, that's pretty normal for the first many lucid dreams. I mean, who would want to look at objects or walk around when you can find out what it feels like to fly? Once you have a few more lucid dreams, and get all that curiosity out of the way, then you won't feel as much urge to go on a LD adventure.

However... on your next dream, before you go on an adventure, try to stop for a couple of seconds and try to remember if there was anything that you really wanted to do. When I had something that I really wanted to do in a dream, I didn't remember about it until I stopped and actually tried to remember... "what was it that I was wanting to do?" then it came to me... "oh yes! The lucid task of the month" but then I couldn't remember what the task was. lol.

Like Barefooted Student said, you might want to rub your hands together (or even just look at them).

From my experience if you exert a little control over things in the dream it's enough to keep you lucid. For example you might try changing the colour of an object in the dream. You wouldn't be trying this if you weren't lucid, so just by doing it you are reminding yourself that you're dreaming (if that makes sense?). Gradually give yourself harder tasks, working your way up to things like flying or walking through walls.

Congratulations on making it this far!
