Control, major sticking point countless ld's later

So I've had quite a lot of LD's since I've become a member here, just had probably my 5th wild and my 8th LD of 2008 (almost once a week). My main sticking point however is getting CONTROL, I simply cant do it as well as I want.

Most of my lucid dreams come from false awakenings so they usually start out in my bedroom and i've decided to quarantene myself to my bedroom until I can get control down very well.

In this most recent WILD that occurred about an hour or two ago during a nap I noticed that I had to keep my eyes very wide open and whenever they started to droop is when I felt like I was losing sight of the dream. My room was dark and I kept trying to say stuff like 'Light ON' and snapping my fingers but nothing happened. Went to the light switch, no go obviously and I kept saying the same thing 'Light ON' with more conviction but failed to get any results.

Any tips for gaining more control? I've tried countless things, dropping to my knee's and rubbing my hands together (done that in at least 10+ ld's), examining things up close (done that at in at least 8-10 different ld's) and saying 'I Am god, I control everything" (done that about 3 times and had better success with getting lights to come on). I've also tried spinning in at least 5 different ld's and I feel spinning just resets me into another false awakening or resets the LD.

anyone have any other tips? I've been constantly playing around with it but for keeping and maintaining control I just haven't had the success I've wanted.

edit - as for just believing you can do it, I think that may help however I've never had any problem with flying. I've flown in countless LD's and i'd say the hardest its been I'd jump up once, come back down and then jump up again and take off...

      Thats all you need.

If you believe you can do anything then you will reach god-level dream control every time.

It seems like you need to work on your conviction, just saying something isn't going to do anything if you don't believe it.

Also, you may do better if you don't quarantene yourself in your room.

I agree with Barns.. confining yourself to your room seems like punishment and may actually be hindering your efforts. Get out of your room and explore your lucidity (control is just one aspect of it).

well I've had countless lucids that dont involve my room and I find that I have less control and lose lucidity quicker when I'm in a larger area. I think its because theres just too many distractions and other things around me to focus on and literally in a matter of seconds I'll just be an observer instead of the actor of the dream. The bigger my surroundings the less I actively control...

I figured by leaving myself in my room, a familiar place that is much smaller I can focus on it until it becomes extremely vivid and then play with stuff like manipulating objects, having random DC's come knock on my door and come in.. basically experiment till I'm ready to move on.

All of my lucid's where I walk out my bedroom I notice myself instantly losing some control and becoming more of an observer the farther I go...
