      Changing your WILD starting point?

Anyone ever had the problem of always having this certain...same...starting point after they enter an LD via WILD?

All my WBTB/WILDs start with me hopping out of my bed in the room I'm in. While I'm getting better on getting further and further away from my bedroom (and neighborhood, etc.), I'd like to know if anyone's had success with being able to create/change their starting point.

I've tried changing the scene inside of the LD right away, but I'm just not able to do it yet (tried drawing a door in a wall to walk through). Gets annoying since I can only get so far from the starting point before I wake up.

When I have a WILD, I use HIs as the starting point. I let the scene sort of pop out as the dream scene.

Why not trying to simply teleport yourself? Spinning can also be used to change the dream scene.

Something I've done a couple of times to change scenery (I was lucid from DILD), was close my eyes for a couple of seconds, think of a scenery I wanted to be in, and open my eyes again.

When I opened my eyes the scenery had successfully changed to the new place. It was all very detailed and vivid.

Do keep in mind that this technique might not work for some people. There's a lot of people that always wake up if they close their dream eyes, so this would not work for those people.

      Just a thought though...

Other things you might want to try is going through a door/wall and imagining a different scenery on the other side. Going through a portal. Catching a plane. Asking a dream character of how you can get to a different place... etc.

      Good luck on your endeavors!

I am the same but find being in my room as a starting point is excellent for stabilising the dream. Your mind doen't have to work as hard to create the dream scene, because your room is pretty much well into your mind, so gives you the opportunity to stabilise your environment, and this usually prolongs lucidity for me.

However, if this is what you want to do, what WILD technique do you use? You can use different techniques that will help.

It depends on how you enter your WILDs.

My WILDs never start in my room.

This is because I enter my WILDs by imagining a dream-scene and letting it get more and more vivid.

I use WBTB, but I don't fall asleep easily so if I concentrate on HI I usually just end up staying awake - I just let the vibes come and hit me on their own and I wake up in my room, every single time.

I guess I'll experiment more with teleporting and changing scenes.

Try doing a VILD technique, that way you will start wherever you are imagining.

Otherwise, just learn to teleport. I just make a portal to wherever I want to go

Yah, I tend to start a WILD in my room because I transition from awake in my room to lucid in my room. I have had little success with changing the scene. An effective way to escape that area is to fly outside and just go elsewhere. If you can't fly yet, than that sucks, , but try to walk elsewhere. I would avoid closing my eyes for an extended period in a dream because I sometimes open my real eyes when I do that. As far as staying assleep, you have to use hand rubbing or spinning to stabalize the dream as you move farther from your room or create a completely imaginary dream scene because the increased mental activity could wake you up otherwise.
