      Dream Guide?

Ok, so i've heard posted here and there about 'Dream Guides', and how people have 'met' them in their LD's.

What I want to know is basically, what exactly is a dream guide?
      -Does it talk?
      -Can it interact with you?
-Why do you all keep talking about it?

And most importantly, since DG's seem to be an important aspect of all of your LD's, i'd just like to know:

"Has anybody met their Dream Guide BEFORE hearing/reading about Dream Guides on the forums or anywhere else, or has everybody heard about them first, THEN gone on to meet theirs?"

I have the feeling my dream guide has appeared to me in multiple forms but have never been lucid enough at a time where I thought to ask that DC if they are my dream guide. I am eager to meet him/her/it.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the whole topic is about either.

I guess they sound as if they are there to help you through your dream. Possibly help you 'learn the ropes' so to speak. Which would obviously be helpful for lucid dreamers of all skill levels. If you could receive advice or guidance to aid in the control of your dream or other aspects. This may include abilities or skills that they can teach you or 'train' you in.

But on the whole, they sound as if they are just created by your imagination. They are not real people or 'spirits' that travel into your dreams but instead, they are only something that your mind creates to help you with lucid dreaming. Either way, the concept of dream guides could potentially aid any new or experienced lucid dreamers conquer their dreams!

I agree with Elite Dreamer. I don't think they're some mystical or supernatural beings. I think they're just DC's that your mind makes more inteligent. When I start having lucid dreams, I'm definitely going to get myself a dream guide.

Some people say they are your subconcious as a character
This is the date of my first lucid: 3/6/2010
It took WAY TOO LONG - but was completely worth it.

      1. Depends, at first your dream generates these, your DG might not speak when you meet it, but realize that it is a dream, and you may change that.

      2. Same, I think it's perfectly possible to interact with your DG. I don't see why it should be any harder/easier to interact with a character you allow zero knowledge, than a character you allow all knowledge.

      3. 'Cause it's awesum! I mean, you get to get 100% honest answers about a situation about yourself!

I think one could have met their DG before having heard about it, if they had the idea of meeting their Sub Conscious before. But I don't think many people get that idea, and actually try to do it in a dream. So I think most people hear about it, then meet their DG.

Normal DC = Character that might do anything, has no specific personality, sometimes appear to be... Stupid.
Dream Guide = Character with more knowledge, more personality and emotion, making it a much more real experience. And since these characters come from your Sub C, then this one, being much more intelligent, should be able to deliver the Sub conscious information you need.

(Note, if you believe it will change, it will, so that stupido DC overthere can become your DG if you really believe it. Try conjuring up a "How to Be [Yourname]'s Dream Guide" and have them read it. And if you don't like your DG, you can degrade them to normal DC's if that's what you want.

Your dream, your rules. Remember that.

Is a Drean Guide actually real or is it like a paranormal phenomena thing ? Or is it just something people believe in?

DGs are something of a debated subject in the ld community. The most common definition of a DG is a DC who is connected to you in some way; they are commonly seen as more intelligent and are looked toward for advice and the like. Some people believe they are spirits, the deceased, your subconscious personified. Etc. While others (such as myself) see them as just special DCs.

Personally I met my dream guide before I ever heard of guides, spirit or dream or otherwise. I had a vague notion of the animus/anima from psychology, and so I assumed that my guide was an animus. At the time I did not believe in spirits or anything of the like.

-Does it talk? Yes, a guide will talk to you. Generally a guide is very intelligent and they won't give you nonsense answers. They'll know a lot about you, so if you ask them for help or advice they will usually give you good insight.

-Can it interact with you? Yes, guides are not like usual DCs; they can interact with you in a "physical" way in a dream. It doesn't feel dreamy or imagined like most interactions can. It feels very realistic.

-Why do you all keep talking about it? Probably because there is a lot of debate on what guides are, and whether or not there is really any spiritual or supernatural source for guides. For many people the appearance of a dream guide can be a profound experience, and because of that, others want to have a similar experience, so they try to seek out their own guides.

It's intresting to think about what a dream guide is. If it's your subconscious how is it able to process things in a way for you to understand? I feel more like it would be your mind able to supress your egos beliefs and preconceptions about things and able to jump to conclusions uninhibited by such things. Also, it may be a spiritual thing. I would love to know.

      hmm,

It's strange to say that I was born a lucid dreamer,
and I've never had a dream guide, infact,
i never even heard of a DG until I came on these forums.

I usually just talk to myself in my dreams,
and control everything as I would in the real world.
