      Wow...Just Wow

Finally I experienced a true lucid (I had performed a RC on another dream, but I couldn't move at all)!

My only problem is that in both of these instances, I still feel like I don't have complete control over my actions. It's almost like watching a movie in 1st person of me doing stuff. How can I gain full control?

Also, both of these have been DILDs, and I'm unsure if the same would happen if I WILDed or did another method.

Yeah I know that, then you must imagine that the "film" you are know in slipped away from your eyelight. If all worked you are alone in the room you was and you can do what you want!

That's the problem. I know I'm asleep, but I feel like I'm not controlling my actions. I don't feel like I have control, like in real life, like in deciding to type this message, etc.

But, maybe WILDing would give me that control, since I am conciously entering the dream? I do not know, because I have had difficulties with WILDs and any other variations of WILD.

It most likely would. I say you should try it out.

But I don't think that having little control is entirely uncommon, I've heard of people that have been in a similar situation.

I had the same problem for the longest time, but recently I finally fixed it. Generally, the reason why you don't feel like you are in full control is that you are trying too hard, in a way. You're probably thinking 'walk' instead of just walking. Forcing yourself to walk, instead of just walking. It's really hard to explain, but once you figure it out, it's obvious. For instance, right now think as hard as you can 'WALK' while focusing on your legs moving. Then just move your legs. It probably didn't work the fist time (unless you misinterpreted me). Most people's first instinct is to 'think' the command to walk instead of just walking. Just walk.

I have yet to have another lucid since this, but I realized how I could rephrase this. It's almost as though I'm dreaming of being lucid in my dream...or, rather, watching a movie of it. It's not so much that I "try" and "fail" to move, or control an aspect of my dream, but like I said, I feel tht my actions are predetermined.

It's hard to explain, but it is most like I'm watching something I'm doing, rather than actually "doing" it. Like I said, hard to follow and explain.

EDIT: I found a thread that pretty much describes my situation. 0% is what happens in almost all my dreams, except in my lucids, I, well, know I'm lucid. But the rest of the factors apply.

don't freak out too much, excitement will cause the LD to fade away.

just hold the thought "I'm lucid dreaming now" in your mind, really hold it, cuz thoughts will slip away for good if you just coast. when you get better at that, you'll be able to do the things you want while staying lucid.

For the past few nights now I've had LDs...never did anything, they were more like brief instances where I would think "something's wrong. I'm in a dream" but then a DC or turn of events would distract me or tell me it's not a dream...so yeah. My control/lucidity is very low, if not nonexistant.

ALSO. I think it doesn't help that I only found this a month before school starts. It may be that I'm thinking about school, and I can't focus on dreams. School must be a real lucid killer.

i did the exact same thing!!! I have the same problem. I was making a lot of progress with my dreams on my summer sleep schedule, but now that school's started I pretty much have lost all my progress.

I'd say WILDs are really effective. My DILDs suck, there is no vividness or controll. But my WILDS! Oh, Man!

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

I remember reading somewhere that trying to lucid in school can be bad...

Good. So once NEXT summer hits, I'll be starting with my DJ and RCs, then go straight to WILD...

it shouldn't be hard to explain to any lucid dreamer. To someone who isn't a lucid? Yeah, it would be. But I can't even think of one that hasn't started out right where you are. Like you said, it's like you are dreaming about being lucid. Don't worry. This just means that you aren't quite in tune with your sub-conciouss enough to merge the two. Think about it, you are trying to mesh your varying levels of conciousness into one!

Probably one of the next levels, (with it's own challenges to overcome,) would be like my most recent lucid dream two nights ago and where I have been at with most of my lucids lately. I knew I was dreaming and had full perspective and control of myself, but didn't fully comprehend what it meant to be dreaming. I understood enough to know that my actions would have no consequences since I was dreaming, but I didn't understand that I had the potential to manipulate things or change the flow of the dream, or that my DCs were manifestations of my mind. This is more gratifying than the other type of partial ludicity, but still not fulfilling.

I'm trying at obtaining teh next level where you fully comprehend that you are lucid and what that means. Even if you can't control it much.

As far as WILDing, it can't hurt to try I'm sure but the technique of telling yourself that you are going to have a lucid dream can sometimes create an experience better than a DILD. (A MILD.) Also NILD, (naps,) help at least to have better dream recall for me. Both of these techniques have helped me with lucidity, and may not create an experience quite ass good as a WILD but I have never done a WILD as it requires such levels of mind over matter that I need more experience. I wish you the best of luck, however, in WILDing if you do attempt it.

At any rate, don't be discouraged! Remain diligent and you shall get it.
      Best of luck to you.

I find that I can get out of this with an assertive attitude.
