Altering dream environment (matrix style?) ?

      Hi all!
I recently came across this site as I was searching google to see whether other people experienced pain in lucid dreams, and I came across this thread http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...409#post875409

Anyway, I was also curious about somthing else. Once you've entered a lucid dream, does anyone find that they can alter the environment as they choose, i.e. you wish for somthing to appear and it does? As I personally, generally so far I've had to 'play along' with the dream you can say, i'm bound by the rules of the dream. If I enter a dream where everything is realistic, then I can only do realistic things as well (i.e., no superpowers). However, if I enter a dream where the theme may be magic, etc..... I find I may be able to perform magic as well, however even then I can't actively choose what magic, if you catch my drift. I'm still bound by the rules/laws of the dream. So I was curious if anyone out there has similar experiences or whether they can alter aspects of the dream as they choose.

I can't change my environment either. I've tried many times, and end up using too much concentration and wake myself up. But usually I find some sort of loophole. For example, if I am in a hotel or something I'll think, "As soon as I walk into the next room a *insert whatever you want* is going to be there."

Usually I write in my LDs, so in real life I have good ideas for novels and so such, so I will often wish for a desk to be in the next room, etc. Usually I have to picture the desk, with the pencils and paper, before I go into the next room and see it.

I hope this wasn't too ambiguous, and I hope it helps.

In my first lucid dream I made a TV appear almost effortlessly by thinking about it casually.
Sometimes I even have this power in normal dreams, but there it takes more effort, and I actually watched a computer "grow" out of the ground slowly. Those dreams are really interesting. haven't been able to try since.

I think you might just need a little more confidence or practice. Generally, people with good control can do whatever they wish in an LD.

For me, if I stabilize a dream and make sure I am 100% lucid, and that I am very aware that everything around me is a dream, that nothing is real, that my senses aren't actually working, I can convince myself that everything is simply a construct of my mind and I can usually start changing things and summoning things easily. Definitely try to get yourself into this mindframe and to stabilize your dreams, and you should realize that you have to ability to do whatever you want, and then gain that ability... if that makes sense
