      lucid but not in control

wuts up folks.. so this afternoon i took a nap n wut do u know. my first LD, awesome right. this is how it happend, for no reason i decided to do a RC and check my girlfriends license plate # to see if i was dreaming or not. and wut do you know, the plate just had random scribbles all over it instead of the plate #. so it hit me, im in a dream, first thing to come to mind was dont get too excited or i'll wake up. next thing to come to mind was screw walking im gonna fly. so i jumped up and got about 50 or so feet into the air n hovered there. (yea i was so happy, not only was it my first LD but also first flight . well hover i wouldn't call it flying) once i looked around the neighborhood from up there the dream started to fade and i came down n landed nice and slow. i tried to focus on detail such as the palm of my hand but it was too late, i woke up. great, well here's the thing. the whole time i was lucid which is cool, but i dont know if i was really in control, its as if my "dream self" simply assumed thats wut i would do if i really were in control, but i was merely a spectator during the LD. any thoughts guys?

      Congratulates. Fun huh?

I think I get what your saying. I think that, despite you being lucid, your dream still had a dream like quality. This is the same for everyone, I guess. Its never Exactly like real life. So yes, you did indeed enjoy a lucid dream.

Lucid dreams are quite fun and I've noticed even doing mundane things its just exciting that you're actually doing them in a dream. Also, the dream control and vividness of the lucid dreams will increase with practice once you get better and better at it. I had 2 lucid dreams last night and the first one that I had was by far the most vivid in control lucid dream I've ever had, it was shocking the amount of detail I noticed in the dream. I did not wake up from the excitement but once I was awake it was damn hard to go back to sleep

Dreams can be wickedly vivid and aware. Only with practice comes this realism, however.

I suggest making a simple plan to follow before your dream, detailing what you want to do (I want to fly so high that I can touch the clouds). Imagining your goal before bed will help your mind to focus.

Speaking of focus, I say focus on lucidity before control! Make sure your mind is truly awake! Take some time to immerse your senses and wake up your logic (do a few mental math problems, try to remember what you had for dinner). How do expect to not be a bystander if your mind is still in a bystander state?

Anyway, congratulations on your first lucid dream! Keep practicing, and they will get better. Meditation helps.
