      Demonic Combat

A while back I had the strangest encounter in a lucid dream (I LD every night) with some type of odd figure. It was a black haze with swirling shapes/faces inside of it. I had no feelings of fear in the encounter, but instead just feelings of intense sadness.

I ended up facing off with the Shade in a purely white 3D landscape with no walls, just floating through nothingness. The fight started and I used my personal dream modifying tool "rip". "Rip" instantly severs and erases anything I don't like in a dream. Well I used it on the Shade but it had no effect, this freaked me out originally lol. I changed it up and tried lightwave, lightning but got no where. The Shade just floated there looking at me (with no eyes)? All of a sudden a crushing wave of fear and depression washed over me. I felt completely hopeless like I could never be happy again. Like crying wasn't even an appropriate enough response, all i could do was curl up and shake.

i awoke from the encounter like any normal sleep. however i will still never forget that experience. years later I have never ran into the same entity even after requesting its presence back.

from what i understood of it, that was Satan (or my mental interpretation of him). he didn't insipre fear, just hopelessness. he had no real body, only a concentrated mist.

thoughts anybody? i want a second round.

Well, dreams are partly symbolic (just an earthly biological thing). So maybe that weird thing was some very bad symbol... Dunno.

Have you tried ignoring it? It requires your attention to exist, if you don't focus on it, it can't be there.

yeah that's what my "rip" does is it purges things from my dreams. i was having a normal dream until i encountered it as well. i just noticed it there following me through my normal dream, then i turned attention to it.

then when you are lucid, I would advise not thinking about it. Maybe change the scene. Inviting what ever it is back wasn't a good idea

And you want that thing to show up again??
Lol, I haven't the courage to do stuff like that yet...well, I don't know how you would go about summoning it again, but when you do it should be VERY interesting. If I were you, then next time I saw it I would try to either enter it's body (to better understand it somehow) or find a way to link our thoughts, and befriend it. Now that I think about it, that would be a cool dream companion for you to have, or a dream guide if you haven't got one already.

Well, you haven't encountered it again since that time. I wouldn't worry about it unless you come across it.

Now, was it actively attacking you or just sort of floating around menacingly? If it's attacking you, freeze it and/or the dream environment by shouting "Freeze!" or "Stop!" Once it's stopped, use that time to get away. Summon a door and go through it to enter a more pleasant scene. Lock the door when you get to the other side and/or destory or un-summon (make it vanish) it so that the shade can't follow.

It may sound silly, but bear with me. If you've seen the Harry Potter movies or read the books (probably), they sound like a Dementor (sucking up happiness and joy). Wave a magic wand and summon a Patronus to negate its effects and chase it away. I could provide more details if you're not familiar with HP. Just another idea

IMO it sounds like this being is representative of some kind of fear, probably something you don't think of everyday. In my dreams, usually this is a monster or scary dude that I can't kill (usually I find it pretty easy to obliterate things, even non-lucidly) and that keeps chasing me...

Stephen LaBerge recommends not fighting in these instances, but asking it questions like "What are you"? Showing empathy instead of aggression... I've tried this a couple of times and the being always transforms into a less threatening form. Hope this helps...

My opinion and advice; sorry if it sounds obvious:

It is a representation of evil and fear, materialised in your dream. In my dreams, when I encounter demons, or evil spirits as I sometimes call them, they are highly aggressive 99% of the time. They often "roar" at me and try to kill me, sometimes succeeding, lol. They have come in many forms, though usually humanoid. Believe in yourself that you possess superhuman, unnatural powers, and dismiss any fear you might have. I've found that, for some bizarre reason, screaming at the demon seems to deter it, and help my fight it.

I dont know if this is what you were thinking, but if something like this happened to me, I think it would feel like a sense of being lost in society or being controlled by society.
Just my personal interpretation of what it COULD be. lol.
Interpretation is everything, and everyones interpretation is different.
