      Maintaining stability in dreams?

I was wondering how one would, when they recognize they are dreaming, to maintain stability/clarity? There are times when I know I am dreaming, but then after a mere couple of seconds there are no visuals, it would just be blank. My question is how can one maintain stability with visuals, instead of a blank/black LD?

Once you realize you're dreaming, stay calm. You can "break" a dream quite quickly if you get overly excited and filled with anticipation or if you become afraid of waking up shortly.

Other than that, you could try vocal commands (Say: "Increase stability!") or focus on aspects of the dream world. One favourite is taking a short while after you become lucid to take a really good look at some object, focusing on the details. Another is touching things (or rubbing your hands together).

As well as shouting "increase stability!" you can also try "increase clarity!"

Close your dream eyes and visualize a scene, imagining the tactile, auditory, and visual sensations of that environment. Then open them again and see if it worked.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
