      Having Trouble

Ok so LD is getting to be kind of easy. The easy part being getting INTO the dream, the hard part is staying in the dream. Last night i was LD'ing and i learned that it is INCREDIBLY simple to summon people, havent tried objects, but PEOPLE are very easy, this is my way to do it. I just call out there name and expect them to walk around the corner. Thats it. 100% success rate. But here is my problem.

After summoning someone i get too excited atleast i think thats what it is. Also why do i wake up when i close my dream eyes? For some reason i just cant have a complete LD without somewhere along the way thinking bout my real body and it ends up ending the dream, is there any way around this? Should i be doing more stabilizing techniques? So far the only thing i do is rub my hands together and feel my sheets, is this not enough?

I also figured out how to summon someone into the dream before you actually get into the dream. While slipping into the dream world, imagine your surroundings, and imagine anyone you want to be right there with you. I did this last night and the whole dream was transparent, it was being built, like a computer, but not too long and it was a solid dream. During this time i watched my best friend being built right beside me, it was absolutely amazing. Looking through your eyelids.

With practice alone, you should find yourself spending more and more time in lucid REM.

If you've pinpointed the actions which get you too excited, then they should be easy enough to fix. Before you do the action (summoning), slow things down, stabilize, and think about how the dream will continue after the summon. Stabilize once more (tactile stabilization, rubbing hands/touching things, works best, and I advise you to keep it up) after the summoning is complete.

try to include all senses in your dream. this is sth that works very well for me, you forget about your real body. simply smell something, hear the birds in the trees, taste something ans touch the world around you

      cheers

Ok those are good ideas, im gonna try them. I tried to LD last night, for some reason, no matter how long i would be still, nothing would happen. I thought i had my technique down . I had so much confidence that i would LD when i did a wbtb too, i kept repeating in my mind how my dream would start and what i would be doing. Usually i can visualize me laying in my bed in my room and the dream will start that way, but this time i couldnt even get SP, which is personally my key to getting into a dream.

I dont think i stayed up long enough, or maybe too long? I only stayed up for like 4 minutes before trying to go back to sleep.

Sounds like you stayed up too long, as you were obviously very aware of your body (if you weren't up long enough, you'd probably recall a failure due to falling genuinely asleep too early).

Even though you were up for four minutes, it's apparent that you kept your mind too active while back in bed (so really, it was like your entire WILD attempt was one long WBTB where you were lying down!). I think this is caused by anxiety... You are too stressed about whether you succeed or not, too focused on your body! As you continue to practice, this double-observer effect will fade.

That makes alot of sense to me. Usually when i succeed i wont even have to get out of my bed before i go back to sleep. But this time i had to get up and let my cat out of my room or he wouldnt shut up and would keep me awake, and i also took a couple draws of a cigarette before putting it back out. This flash of light from my cigarette lighter could have been the main reason why i may have become too awake.

Also i HAVE been a little stressed since friday...my mom was admitted to the hospital for an ilness still unknown to the doctors. It is really a hard time...
