      Arrow controling my dreams:hard!

i had a dream one night that i just knew it was a dream! i dreamt that i was in school, in it was a pool table and a sweet stand. between those were a statue with a woman holding an empty bucket. i sat 50 feet from it, i knew it was a dream so i thought that the woman would throw away the bucket. but did it work? no. what did i wrong?another weird thing in the dream was that my friend broke my phone. i putted it my backpack. after i thought about the woman and the bucket i took up my phone from the backpack and it was fixed!! but the main question is:how do i controll my dream? i thought like this"throw away the bucket......why arent you throwing it away? do it!" but nothing happened. what am i doing wrong?

PS:sorry for my bad english, im from sweden.

You have to believe in yourself. BELIEVE!
-cough- Sorry about that. Got a bit carried away. ^^

But, in all seriousness, the biggest secret to controlling your dreams is believing that what you're trying to do will work. You could also try visualizing what you want to happen, or giving verbal orders (e.g. if you want to fly, say "gravity off!"). You could also try less direct control. For example, if you wanted the woman to throw away the bucket, you could imagine that the bucket is hot so of course she would drop it.

PS: Your English is fine. The main issue I had with reading your post was the lack of capitalization, but I can't even count the number of native speakers who can't be bothered with using the shift key.

The capitals... They make me happy. You have no idea. I'm a bit obsessive.

      Good luck, and happy lucids!

Well, the first step is to improve your recall. You can't really do anything if you don't remember your dreams, and even if you do, you'll just forget about it when you wake up.

Dream control doesn't always work. If you're just starting out, I'd advise you start with something small, like finding an ice cream truck and getting ice cream from it, and then working your way up to harder things.

To improve your recall, you can start with a dream journal (if you don't have one already) and be sure to ALWAYS record your dreams, no matter how little you can remember or how stupid they may seem. Everything is important. You may also read the tutorials on how to increase dream control and how to improve recall. Good luck!
(And yes, your English is fine...better than a lot of native speaker actually...)

Well, it's sort of like in The Matrix where Morpheus says "Don't think you are, know you are". However, I've found that this always seems to happen more during negative type situations.

An example would be when I would have a dream as a child where I did something I was afraid I would get in trouble for. I would go to my room and try to hide, but I still had the thought that my dad was about to come in and I'd be in trouble. Sure enough, it would happen!

Also, maybe you're not waiting long enough for the dream to carry out your orders. Even with my experience, I still sometimes have to wait a little bit to be able to do impossible things. It's like the dream has some kind of slow processing issues or something!

But instead of putting the focus on your power within the dream to say "This or that should happen", maybe you could try going up to someone in the dream and getting them to make things happen for you. This can work because we often percieve the surroundings and characters in the dream to actually be more powerful or have more influence over the dreamworld than we do (even though we know it's a dream).

I like how Hidden mentioned trying less direct forms of dream control. Also, I've found that if I try to control too much about the dream, it only ends up being stupid, and not happening the way I want it to.

I also agree with starting small too. There's plenty of time to work your way up. Rome wasn't built in a day

Hidden is always right. A quote that is very true when it comes to lucids:

It's possible to control the dream but you have to give the subconcious time to conform to your instruction. Like for your bucket dream you could have waited a bit while your back was turned and expect to hear the bucket landing on the ground. The reason Y your HP was fixed is because there was time for it to be fixed. You can't expect immediate results right away, your subconcious needs time to find an 'excuse' to come up with the new element that was not part of the dream.

I think that's just a limitation of the mind. Since we don't expect things to magically happen this instant, that's the only reason why it doesn't just happen. If you are really in control of your dream, there shouldn't have to be an excuse for things not working right away. Of course, if you're just a beginner (like me), I suppose you could try that for a bit and work up the speed, but I'd rather spend more energy on believing and knowing that anything I command will happen as I command it. It's all about mental discipline.

That's true but it would be easier to 'conform' to the normal expectations or 'format' of experience of reality rather than trying something that the mind has a hard time doing and you end up wasting the precious LD....

      another dream.

I had another dream this night and it happened that i were in the gym with the class, we were going to learn to swing on a pole going sideways between 2 walls and do a backflip while you are still holding it. I saw the first student try, she swung back, forth and at that EXACT time i thought "faster..." and she did 2 backflips(still holding the pole) in hyper speed! I went"OMG?!?!". when one of my friends tried, he swung forth and epicness, he goed slow motion so i thought"let go of the pole." But he were still in slow motion. another dream that was hard to controll, i don't have a will of steel!

i know that i have to BELIEVE but it is so hard!

When you try to look at a dream, try to look at it logically: "This is my imagination. If I can do it when I'm not asleep I can do it now as well." That is usually enough to jumpstart me. Although, because focus is a hard thing to attain at first, things might go wrong because you were too deep in the moment. To quote Max Payne, "...but dreams have a nasty habit of going bad when you're not looking."

Dont' FORCE your mind to do anything... let things flow, but don't force it... don't demand things to happen... don't boss around your mind... just think about what you would like to happend.. just like that... expect things to happend like "like woo... it would be bad for my friend to fall off the pole, that's some dangerous stuff he's doing, he might fall off... yup, he's gonna fall off on his butt" that makes room to expectations... so it happens..
like with your dad in that dream u used to have where you hide from him but you 'wait' for him to come in and start giving you trouble... remember that feeling you had in that moment and apply it... but don't force it, cause if you do it'll NEVER happend.. u just gotta let things flow naturally...

Well dude to me it sounds like it's your personality a little bit. You remind me of my friend that i tried to teach how to control. Remember keep calm, and I mean the kind of calm thats not superficial. Like long shower calm. When your awake don't think "tonight that statue will throw the bucket or else" you should think more like, "She did throw the bucket" even if she doesn't throw it or she throws it differant from what you visualised you should still see your own illusion or imagination. Like if you read this. Visualise it, again and again like its nothen. Like your putting on your new shoes or brushing your teeth. And another thing is you mentioned your friend in the dream. He is a symbol of your life, sounds like you trust him and believe in him so much that you thought 2 things, one she wont throw the bucket because hes here and he represents the laws and limits of reality. The other is if hes here he might be the one in control of the laws and limits, "if i can do it so can he". He did give you a clue to how you will begin to control. He broke your phone as if he was giving you practice. Broken phone put into the bag now its out of sight and where you cannot see anything is possible. Like what does heaven look like, are there angels with wings, possibly is, no one can see there. So you had faith and the phone is fixed. I think you fixed it with your mind because you didn't want to blame a friend or have a broken phone. So now think about this how did the phone look as it was being fixed in the bag. Was it piece by piece or instanly back to normal. I think it was instantly because you were focused on your phone being back the way it was as soon as it broke and not putting it back together piece by piece. So think of it this way you did control your dream when you could not see it. That means your mind was free to say "hey i dont know, anything is possible" and it worked try to have that kinda attitude.
