      Deceased boyfriend eating my spine

I had a boyfriend who died 2 years ago in a drowning accident. I always have dreams about him now, but i remember, when i first started dreaming about him, i'd have really weird dreams, like this one.

In my dream, when i saw [Jon] i was really excited and i could really "feel" me missing him, (something weird in dreams, i can always feel emotions really strong, i can also feel other peoples emotions) and i could "feel" him missing me too. Anyway, i was happy, then he started to eat my spine, and even though he was eating me i was still happy and la de da, and i wasn't even concerned until he got like 3/4 of the way up my back, then i started to get scared and i made myself wake up. Why would he do that to me?

Uhhhh..... Cause he turned into a canabalistic flesh eating zombie?

Seriously though, I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

As for the dream, normally I like to think that I'm pretty intuitive with dream interpretation but, you may have me on this one.

Perhaps it ment your grief for him was eating you alive? Or maybe it was a warning to not let your grief eat you alive.

      That would be my interpretation.

Maybe he was trying to take away some of your pain? The image of “eating” makes me think two things: something about him or his memory (I don’t know your whole story, and it’s none of my business) is eating away at you. There’s an issue there that needs to be resolved because it’s weakening you.

The second thing that comes to mind is a possibility that I don’t mean to frighten you by suggesting. I’ve heard of many situations where people have had dreams involving something or someone “eating” them (or a particular body part). More often than not, there was a health issue that they were unaware of—and it was almost always centered around that specific body part. Again, I don’t want to freak you out by saying that, but I’d rather mention it than not.

Also, please keep in mind that I do not know you or your situation, nor do I know anything about the situation with your boyfriend. Whatever I say is pure speculation on what you’ve told us and also subject to context. Some things to think about: How was he eating your spine? What sort of emotion did you get from him and his actions? Did it seem as though he was doing it to hurt you? You don’t have to tell us the answers, but they are things to think about.

Also… it wouldn’t hurt to see a doctor. We should all do that regularly anyway.

I hope this helped, or at least gave you some ideas as to what your dream could have meant. Also, I'm sorry for your loss... I know my words aren't much comfort to you but it's all I can offer as a caring stranger. *hugs*

I didn't sense that i should be afraid, that's what was eerie about it, cuz i didnt feel scared. the interpretation about my mourning over him was eating me alive makes a lot sence, it was like a smack in the forehead like, "hello! why didn't i think about that before?!"

Jon, because he has died, has become part of the Universal Lifeforce, and this is exactly the same Lifeforce, that the Yogis call 'Kundalini' that rises up the spine in spiritually advanced people.

Also, we have the synchronistic coincidence that he had drowned. It it were only a dream, we would say that he had been overwhelmed by Emotion and Unreasoned Intuition (like that teacher you know who dreams of Self -- the House -- being filled up with water). So this eating of your Spine, three-quarters of the way up... does that not bring it up to the Level of Your Heart Chakra -- the Center of your Emotions? You yourself say that you not only have Strong Emotions, but you also have Sympathetic and Empathic Emotions responding to the feelings of others. That your Spine is being eaten, indicates that it is no longer Self that is operating, but you are being influenced by Other -- you are being adopted by the Collective of which Jon is now an integral part.

Yeah, I would ask yourself the obvious questions about it. Were you present when he drowned? Were you going to go do something and then changed your mind and he drowned? These are hard questions and grief is a hard issue so I would not hesitate to talk to a professional counselor.

Perhaps his eating your spine seems like a connection, you retain the grief because it is a connection to him but as it starts to consume more and more of your life you become afraid. Yeah, I am going to suggest as someone did earlier that you are warning yourself not to carry that grief too long or too far.

It is sad, I am sad for you that you have suffered and sad for him that he will not take part in the rest of life, but you will. And some day will come your turn to die but not now.

What ever you do don't let these things grow into depression or fatalism. Noone can explain death, nor does anyone really know what happens when we die, so there is a mystery. Enjoy your life, remember the good and celebrate it.

      My sympathies on your loss,

      EJ

hello there catrina, I too am sorry to hear of your loss...
I will say this, that most often than not dreams are quite simple and we yet make them very complex, because that is what we do, we make things complex when there is no need to , but we don't think that do we haha.
so I would suggest this dream is saying that your boyfriends death is eating at you literaly, eating your energy and taking it from you as you try to move on..it is must be very hard for you since your love is still there, these dreams are showing you how much loss can take from us..
Im sure in time your wounds will began to heal, however the dreams may persist because I don't think we ever realy get over something like this, so I wish you the best in this..also usually if your sick, the dream will persist over and over and you will know if you are sick, or if the dream is suggeting you are sick, you will just know, you have to go to the doctor, the body and mind connection is so strong that you would just know it...so I wouldn't be concerned unless you feel strange physicaly or that you must see a doctor..trust your inner promtings..
