My Method: Freud and Free Association

Just thought Id announce the method I use for interpreting my dreams so that anyone who wants to try something else could give it a go.

I use a concept invented by Freud called Free Association. Basically, you get an idea as a starting point and WHATEVER comes to your head, no matter if it seems irrelevant, embarassing or cliche, write it down or remember it. Then move on from this idea or word to the next, et cetera. When you think you're at a good point, stop.

You can keep going for as long as you want, and you can say/write whatever - hence, 'free' association.

After I've written down my dreams in my dream book, I pick out what the important points to me are, and whatever comes to my head, I trust that as the meaning. For me, it often works really well for clarifying my feelings about a certain issue. If there's something Im not quite certain on or perhaps Im worried about it, and I associate it with a dream then I usually have a better idea of what to do about it.

      Very interesting...

I was never much for Frued, but he's still valid.

I use a more Jungian view of dream interpretation

So many variables, so little knowledge.
