      Huge cats called doctrines

Last night i had a weird dream that me and a friend were walking through a field and all of a sudden i saw this huge cat's head! Like as big as a cow's and at first i thought, 'no way, that can't be real' and i asked my friend (the friend that is with me, she is a very intelligent person to me, her vocabulary is like as big as some professors...she's very smart) and i asked her, "is that a cat?" once i realized there were more of them in the field. and she said "yea, they're called doctrines." now the word 'doctrine' i've heard of it, but i never use it in my vocabulary, i don't even think i know what it means. so for it to come up in my dream was kind of weird. And i didn't even know what the word meant off the top of my head, so i looked it up and this was the definition: 1.a particular principle, position taught as a religion or government. 2. a body of teachings; creed

By the way, all of the cat's were black, and friendly. They were like normal cats, only huge. And i remember talking to my neighbors about them, and this discovery was just like something the entire world was going through! and when these "doctrines" (the cats) were first discovered, it was a huge deal that everyone knew they were going to have to adapt to...anyway, i remember i was talking to my neighboors about them and i said "they must be a result from a government experiment gone wrong or something" And they agreed.

What if in the future, weird animals are exposed to us like that. and we just have to adapt to them.

I also had another weird dream about bugs agian. I was in my room spraying it down cuz there were ants in there. There were even like little sand hills in the cracks on the floor...IN MY ROOM...what does this mean, i've been having a lot of dreams about bug invasions lately.

      Wow!

I love Cats. You know why? Because Cats made Civilization possible. And so did Moral and Religious Principles. We could not live in Society without Religious and Moral Principles -- Doctrines.

But you know what the Contribution of Cats was? First, a reminder about dogs. Dogs were with Humanity first, but at the pre-civilized level. Dogs helped man on the Hunt -- Indeed, Dogs WERE the hunters at first -- like in a Fox Hunt, or with Bear Baiting -- the dogs did all the work. But Civilization would be different. Civilization would take Humanity from the Meat and Vegatable Diet of the Hunters and Nomads and take the step to Grain, Cereals and Bread. But Rats and othe Rodents would have made that impossible -- first by destroying the grains in the Field, and then attacking the grains held in storage throughout the year. Two necessary implements came along to make Civilization technically feasible -- the Sealed Earthen Pot, which would protect grains in storage, and the Domestic Cat which would protect grain in the field and during the Harvesting Process.

So, in your Dream, Religious and Moral Doctrines are shown to be as Necessary to Civilization as was The Cat.

Incidentally, as well as feeding many outdoor cats (I live upon something of a very wild island) I keep four lovely indoor cats. And I never need to worry about mouse, rat, or even any kind of a bug scurrying over my sleeping body at night. 8 watchful and glowing eyes watch over me, lovingly, each night.

Another possibility...I believe you probably knew what doctrines are even if you were not aware of it. My idea is that this dream is a manifestation of some stress you are going through because of all the political upheaval going on at the moment. The theory that these 'doctrines' might have been a government experiment gone wrong makes sense. More and more the government is trying to dictate morality rather than leaving that up to people's personal spiritual beliefs. The fact that these doctrines appear as huge cats makes sense. Any belief system can be benign or benefitial but they can also be incredibly dangerous too if they get out of hand.

*shrug* I don't really know if this applies to you or not, but that is just the impression I get from it.

Well, let's look at the Modern Movement to make Morality Optional, as you would have it. Has it represented Progress for Morality, or has it lead to the great decline in Morality?

In 1848 The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in Apparition in La Salette France, and prophecized that before the End of the Age children would lose their innocence and that the vast majority of people would lose the ability to discern between simple right and wrong. Now, let's look around. TV now indoctrinates Children on the finer points of human sexuality from the moment they can understand what the tube is saying and showing them. And look at the Politics of America and Western Europe where people are voting in clear Majorities for Greed and Militarism.

So, no, Morality cannot be optional. Morality cannot be based on mere Aesthetics and abandoned whenever it should become inconvenient.

As Raymond Burke said, "For Evil to succeed, it is only necessary for Morality to become Optional".

Back in the sixties or early seventies I published a paper in an Anthropology Journal supporting the premise that Human Beings did not develope language in order to communicate with other people... just look at other primates who don't 'talk' to each other. We developed language in order to communicate with kanines. First we needed to to develop Barks and Growls so that we could communicate with them on their level -- which aided us in developing some articulation beyond mere monkey grunts, and then, as our articulation progressed, we were able to develop different sounds for different hunting signals. We can see that Kanine Skill in understanding Language exactly parallels human skill in conversing in Language. So, Dogs are not only 'Man's best friend', but the objects of our first conversations. I wish I had saved a copy. I thought it was very convincing, but I must admit that my colleagues all thought it quite hilarious.

I fear you may have misunderstood me. As a Christian I believe that morality is absolute, what I am saying is that we can no longer hold personal beliefs about what is right and wrong. It has been a subtle endeavor but with legislation allowing things like abortion and homosexual marriage, it is getting more and more difficult to have personal standards of right and wrong that differ with what we are being told by the law. Everyone assumes that if it is legal it is right, which is not always the case.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the kind of person to treat someone with disrespect because of his or her sexual orientation or personal beliefs. I think that every person deserves the dignity of being human, but I can peacably and respectfully disagree with someone.
