Hey, guys! I recently had a VERY vivid, detailed dream (which is quite rare for me), and I could use some help interpreting it.
First, some backstory. I have a very close, straight friend who attends the same school as me. Since meeting, we have had consistently good platonic chemistry. However (most likely unbeknownst to him), I have also been harboring a mild crush on him.
Recently, there has been a great deal of speculation among mutual friends and our circle that he might be gay/bisexual. I initially ignored it, but constantly hearing about it has led me to observe his behavior toward me more closely. There are some indications that this is true (his constant restating of the fact that he is straight, the fact that he is touchly-feely/affectionate with me more than anyone else in our friend circle, his series of short relationships). I have yet to draw an actual conclusion, but I have a suspicion that he is not 100% straight and that his feelings toward me are not entirely platonic.
Unfortunately, these recent developments have intensified my crush, resulting in a great deal of anxiety, emotional turmoil, and potentially false hope.
The dream itself takes place in a spacious, club-type atmosphere. The walls are a brownish-orange color. There are other people there besides me, but I cannot tell what they are doing. From a distance, I observe that my straight friend and a mysterious man are lying on the ground together. The mysterious man is licking my friend's wrist/hand and my friend has his eyes closed in pleasure. I recall being confused.
A mutual friend suddenly appears at my side. She begins berating me; saying that I am torturing myself and that I could do better, finally concluding with something like, "you could easily get a doctor!" I found this puzzling; all of us are in law school together. In waking life, this particular friend is aware of the situation but has not taken any particular stance on it.
Ignoring her, I approach my straight friend and this mysterious man to find that they are still laying down, but are now making out. It was at this point where I began to suspect that this might be a dream. Shocked, I stand and stare at them with an open mouth. The mysterious man is the first to notice my presence. He is about our age (mid to early 20s), has facial hair, and wears thick-rimmed glasses. My friend (in waking life and my dream) also has thick-rimmed, hipstery glasses but is clean shaven. My friend then notices my presence and begins walking toward me, laughing happily. He gives me a broad smile and says, "when do WE get to do something like this?" Confused, I can only offer the heartfelt words, "I love you". We enjoy a warm embrace and the dream ends.
If anybody here could offer me some insights I'd be very grateful. Thanks.
