Hi all,

I wanted to discuss an experience I had perhaps five years ago which has always made me slightly uncomfortable when I think of it. I'm hoping to gain some understanding or see if this has happened to anyone else.

It was in the morning right before waking, probably around 7am. I don't think I'd had a dream that night/morning prior to this.

Anyway I was asleep, and I seem to have drifted slightly more into an awakened state. I did not dream anything visual. Everything was dark as I was aware that I was resting and that my eyes were closed. The second I slipped into this changed state, it was like I suddenly became very aware of a clear, deep, throaty, male's voice.

It was speaking a language not known to me. It sounded very similar to a witchcraft or occult-type spell/chant however it was not repetitive. It was a string of constant, fluent dialogue, without any pauses. I tuned into it mid-way, like it had been speaking for a long while. It seemed like it wasn't speaking to me, but possibly about me and around me. It felt dark, and powerful, it angered me, and felt like it was attempting to take power over me. I gained a feeling like 'ok how many times has this entity tried to do this before?'

Once I had realised what I was experiencing I seemed to have made myself wake up (something I can never do). My eyes flew open quickly, with such clear vision and awareness (again something I can't usually do). As soon as my eyes opened the voice stopped mid-word. It was like the spell or hypnotic state had been interrupted and thus temporarily broken.

When I think of this I can hear that voice gurgling away in the back of my mind. I've never understood it, does it mean anything? Can it be interpreted? Is it something else?

Without seeming hysterical about the whole thing, it did feel somewhat sinister, however it also felt like it was trying to guide me. I think that is the disturbing part. I found it very strange however it has definitely had a residual effect on me, it was a prominent experience which has stayed with me.

Anyone with any suggestions or similar experiences please let me know. I found the whole experience fascinating, however still somewhat disturbed by it for lack of understanding.
