      Haunted, Empty House

Hi guys, this is my first post here, so please bear with me if the format is not to your standards. Would LOVE to hear some insights.

      Dream: Haunted, Empty House

I traveled to visit my parents. They had bought a new house, and had just moved in (or were about to move in). For some reason I had to stay temporarily in the old house; I think they were still preparing the new one. I had never seen this old house before; it was totally unfamiliar. It was beautiful, well built, in warm colours (red brick, a light outside) - not a bad place to live (at first sight). It looked homely from the outside, but it was empty (free of furniture). It was dark outside. There was a feeling of loneliness about it, and also something a bit frightening. I don't remember much of the story, but weird things happened in that house. There were tales that it was haunted. I witnessed a few things that made me believe it was haunted; nothing that was very concrete, doubt-free, but enough to get me scared and expecting to be attacked any time. Like the back door opening or closing when no one else was there; other things having moved when that wasn't possible, as no one was there; and a presence that I felt behind me. At some point I felt a strong presence and ran to the front door, fully expecting some kind of ghost or force to manifest to me, but I got out of the house before I could see anything. I was scared, and wasn't much enjoying my stay.

      My Associations:
Travel: to move into a new situation. In this case, moving into something new while revisiting something from the past, which should have been familiar but wasn't at all.
The house: a place where I had to stay for a short while. Unfamiliar, dark, empty, lonely, and threatening in an escalating way.
My parents: the people that I most love in this life; my foundation; who I think of regarding my teenage years, and who I was then.
The ghost: a force, something that had been hidden, and was slowly showing itself, making its existence more and more real. Something scary. But I don't think it planned an attack; revealing its existence was the attack itself.
Lack of furniture: told me about the temporary aspect of that living situation.

About me: I'm 36, female, married, I live in another continent from my family. Introverted, shy, lonely (I don't have many friends), confused about life at the moment. Going through serious marriage troubles, insecurities about my future, low self-esteem. Husband lost his job, and we don't know what is next: where to live, what kind of work to get, stay together or split. Husband and I have been dating other people, and while it's fun in one hand (and hopefully will help both heal old wounds and raise self-esteem), it's seriously weird and confusing for a conventional girl. I am pretty repressed, guilty feelings like a good Catholic (lol), always second-guessing myself and afraid of making life-altering mistakes. Miss my parents (who indeed bought a new house, and left my childhood home), worried about my father who has cancer and has been unable to get the surgery he needs. I have been dreaming a lot about empty houses - usually places that my parents are moving from, or moving too), and a lot about travel; I am constantly travelling to go visit them.

Getting into the house means you are travelling in reality from one place to another. The haunting issue reflects your worries about your family and parents. An empty house reflects your fears in real life but your fear in the dream (from the hidden force) would reflect calmness and self-assurance that everything will be fine. If you are ill in reality, the dream comes as a reflection of recovery from that illness.

Since you are introvert (as you explained), it is natural that you see such dreams. You do not need to worry a lot, however. The most frightening dreams paradoxically prove to be symptoms of recovery and tranquillity.
