      The cat and the murderer

Hi, if any of you have any ideas for dream interpretation for my cat and murderer dream, I'd be interested to hear them.

The dream is in the dream journal entry here:

The Cat and the Murderer - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

A few explanations: the San Francisco Bay Area is where I grew up as a teenager. This was a traumatic time for me in part because my mother left my father, and I staid with my father after the divorce. I have always wanted a cat but have never actually had one yet, though I have had times in my life where I considered local stray cats "mine", and this was the case when I was a teen in the SF area. I have currently been fighting depression but it is mostly gone now. I am fighting off a cold at this time and this may have been at least in part a fever dream.

I found this dream rather striking, and do suspect it has some hidden subconscious meanings for me.

      Thanks!
You may say I'm a dreamer.

      Arrow Your new home

      Hi Joanna,

Dream interpretation is the process of analyzing your dream in order to discover...
Oh, sorry, you already know that. It was just linked in your post, which of course I clicked.

      Dream Journal:
This guide will show all t...psrrry wrong link again.

The Cat and the Murderer - by Agatha Allen Christie Poe.

      NEW HOME in the OLD
You must have recently aquired a new 'home' in yourself or wanted to, that San Fran represents. Where you grew up so can represent you resolving your past there, your origins, or how it affects you now.
But in case it may mean more as well: It is a major city, open to the sea may be a clue. Very well known. Iconic.
Only at the start your old restricting control was there? You need major repair here in this old area. Unless with your father you do. But probably what he symbolizes. Nothing in you furnishes this.

      FLOOD
So it's heavy from above, you can't drain away the excess, so may flood?

      THE SAD BLACK CAT
You must've noticed how starved, sad, and negative or unseen this area is.
The part you care for here is eager for attention then, to avoid the flood.
But you feel naked - like no furnishings - suffering.
It seems the care belongs to someone or somewhere else, but you want it to be yours.
This side of you is a bit stray, that you consider "yours."

      RAIN STOPS
Now your spiritual side visits, which can nourish the poor puddy tat and make it more interesting. You want variety. Maybe two kinds of variety were needed. One for you and one for the cat owner?

      IT'S A LONG STRETCH
You have a long stretch belonging to this new home, and it is when you are content or think of being that - maybe because it can go on or that means it is a long way ahead - that you feel remorse for not having checked the proper owner - yourself in this new area?
Sheri (actually the name of one of my mum's earlier cats!) is a female given name, from the French for beloved, I just found out.

      MY SHERI
So the poor cat is your desire to be beloved by yourself you have always wanted or in this area, and is in disrepair or here?
You have all the contact details - on the other side of the bay - of course, the one part I didn't think of. Well I nearly did. The bay is a huge rounded area of water though, and your love in you is on the other side of where you are.

      YOUR INNER CALL
      You make the call.
Your younger self or newly developing you again - Haha, your teenage self - answers and is de-lighted that your care for it has been found.
This part will pick you up!
And with her, your potential full grown side of her.
Your new care has an expression of delight on your face.
But outside of this, maybe your full grown control - appearing friendly at first - turned a bit unsure or creeped you out.

      INSIDE
Stay tuned tomorrow for the next gripping installment.
      Same site, different time...

But first... did you spot the missing clue? I didn't. Until now.
SF is Iconic...mainly in its huge orange bridge.
The bay has the giant bridge going across it...that you must cross to get to the other side and join your undernourished cat with its rightful owner, in such a big way!

Thank you Superman! You know, I have been seeking a connection with my 19-20 year old self, that's the self that learned lucid dreaming, became self aware, noticed that there were things about myself I did not like, and changed significantly. And this dream come to think of it is probably about that, seeking a way to change my personality and my spiritual growth through self awareness, discovering that I am naked but instead of seeking fig leaves and being thrown out of the garden of Eden, then going into the garden and discovering how peaceful I can be after all in that vast space, that I do not have to suffer, that Noah's flood is not necessary for me after all.

Edit: it just occurred to me: after garden of Eden, the murderer - is it Cain? For my personal spirituality this may mean that I need to be careful lest I gain the spiritual growth only to loose it again. Come to think of it that's what happened when I was 19-20, after I became self aware and changed for the better, I did not sustain that spiritual growth and it was followed by a period of depression later in college.

Oh and this is not my first flood dream. Last year I had that Flooding Baby Monster dream. And just like now it happened at a time when I also have sinusitis.

Btw, I have finally been making some progress I think. Discovered the book "the Power of Now" by Eckhard Tolle, and trying to learn to live in the now. Not easy with memories of past and worries about future flooding in constantly.

      Part II

      Nice rounded analysis, Joanna.
Now, tonight's incredible conclusion.....may be cancelled. But let's see if it adds any more.

As you recall, in last night's thrilling episode, you were outside, which may mean implementing this change in the outside world, which maybe was daunting.

FURNISHING AND CROCHETING (or CREATING) YOUR NEW SELF
Now inside, you think of furnishing it with yourself or new parts of your character, which may occur when you become friends with the new changes you must make alone.
Now the man of action appears again, if he is that, opposite you where you sit, maybe in the social area or just talking within you. This part from the outside wonders why you are not creating the character to wear for him - making clothes for him or this part of you.
He knows you crochet of course because is you - but the part you do not know yet. And you want to hide from it or part of you does. When the cats away, the not nice will play.
You see danger and even that he can kill you, and your cat. But he ascends to look for your care. When the cat's away, you won't care for this new control.
This connects to the creepy vibe at his first appearance. So if the murder is just what you said, losing the growth, maybe you saw it coming as it has been before, creeping you out.

      LET THE RIGHT ONE IN
But you realize you never invited him into yourself.
If you're afraid of control or taking charge, you will see it as dangerous and can kill you. Because the old you has to 'die.' Or is it just that not inviting it in is the danger that will kill you?
You're defensive, in checking out this idea, to see if it is correct. But you know you barely have a case. Is it just your fear doing the talking? Or the suspicion of the negative outcome? You have no evidence of foul play of course.

CLOSE ONES TO THE CAT REVEAL THE MURDERER
Meanwhile, parts of you closest to the cat - but not the cat - arrive in you.
Or is it thoughts of your family or others, in relation to your changes?
These say make an emergency out of it because if it's what this closer side of you think it is, this control will kill your oldest or most grown female side - that presumably does not have full charge - the night your care for that male control - or taking full charge - disappeared. And is wanted by the correcting side or justice in you.
Or did you see the emergency that if you don't persist in the growth or lose it again it will kill the older you?

      WAKE UP
You woke up before any such correction, or caring for that control again.

      THE CONCLUSION and EPILOGUE
Were you afraid of the idea of your new control, which your new ideas and changes inevitably lead to?
Or that losing it would kill you?
      Or both?

      * * * * * * *
      * Fragment *
      * * * * * * *
You remember the fulfillment of having this potential control and strength.
You thought you could easily 'walk' into it, that is was close by.
But when you started to go there, you had to search, and discovered you need to motivate yourself; it won't come easy.

      END NOTES
Yep I recalled your past flood dream. And if I recall, the conclusion was the same as you said here - that your old self wanted to take charge or hang on, turning your new growth into a monster, and the flood was your resulting depression?
Maybe sinusitis is allergy to the new changes, or not having them, or being stuffed up by the result.
Yeh, that living in the now is always like one of life's greatest cryptic mysteries, ha.
Where else can you live? It's like trying not to live on Mars or Venus.
Yet we all still have to assert to live only where we are. Are us humans crazy?

Yup, we are crazy. I thought I was on the way out of this depression, but had a relaps again. Yesterday was a bad day. And yes you are right, I am afraid of my control or the changes at some level: I've got low self esteem issues, and I bet my relapses are due to not trusting myself to be strong enough to progress. Arg! Thing is that my rational part knows that parts of my old personality must die to make room for new positive growth, but I am more of an emotional person than rational, which is not necessarily bad with intuition and all that, but when I am depressed emotions winning over reason is a killer.
