      Interesting re occuring theme...

I need some help. First off, a while ago I had 2 dreams within a couple nights of eachother, and in both of the dreams I had to hide a gun. A handgun. The first time I had to hide it from a cop that was coming into my house, and I was very panicky. The second time I had to hide it from a friend I thought was going to steal it and use it to kill me. I was very panicky in that dream too. The thing is, I know I didn't watch any movies or anything where someone is hiding a gun, or with guns even in them in that matter. Everytime I have a dream I wake up and discuss with myself why there were certain things in the dream etc. but for these I had no clue.

Not last night but the night before, I had a dream that some guy through a huge piece of dirt at me and I jumped down and starting beating the shit out of him, then I looked around and noticed everyone was beating the shit out of eachother. People I know mostly.
The very next night, wich was last night. I had a dream I was being followed by this kid I sort of know, he's my neighbour. He was following me with his friend and he tried to attack me, but I got ontop of both of them and put my hands around his neck and strangled him. Not to death, but I sort of scared them away. In my dream "the next day" I was at a playground, and it was blue sky. Suddenly there was a very loud series of thunder and it started PISSING rain. I walked away from there to go find shelter with my friend that I havn't seen in forever, and we walked past a parking lot. Across the parking lot I notice it's my neighbour and that kid again. I was suspicous concidering they followed me "the day before" and tried to beat me up, but none the less I kept walking. They were on the side of the sidewalk we were walking on, so we would pass them. I get close and I notice my neighbours holding a rifle, everything kind of goes slow motion and he fires off a bullet. INSTANTLY I feel that it's hit me square in the forehead, theres a splatter of blood covering my vision for a second, I'm falling down to the ground and my hearing ability has gone. I hit the ground and everything is silent, I try to speak some last words to my friend and I manage to say "on.... purpose... purpose" meaning he shot me on purpose, cause for some reason the kid was trying to make it look like an accident or something. So he ran away and after my last words I woke up shaking and Iwas fucking scared cause it truly felt like I got shot in the head and my life was over.

Anyway, I'm not a violent person at all, and I've never had violent dreams like this. I'm wondering what the hell this all means. Any ideas?

      Dear Cube,

You missed a wonderful opportunity when you was shot in the head during that dream. In just a few more seconds, had you stuck with it, you would have realized that you were not really dead, and you would have been able to get up and brush yourself off, although with a sizeable hole in your head. This would have confirmed to you that you have nothing to fear while in a dream. But since you allowed the dream to end while you were still quite dead, and since you woke up somewhat traumatized by the whole experience, then, quite the opposite effect will engulf you, and that is that you will have even more anxieties and fears while dreaming, and not less.

Please, go over in your mind, so that the notion will be fixed and ready to play out the next time, that you should not panic and wake up the next time you are killed (it hardly matters whether you add 'in a dream' or not) that you will stay calm and wait the 10 or 20 seconds it takes for a 'Dead Dreamer' to rouse back to Life.

Also, yes, the dreams do show you to be a non-violent person. That indeed is the reason why you are hiding these guns -- you are suppressing your anger and violent tendencies. Good for you. The whole World would be much better off if everybody were to actively suppress their violent tendencies. you can be sure George Busk has no such dreams.

But you do have plenty of anxieties concerning violence. That is simply in the nature of our World. it is difficult to control our environment and our situations. However, you should keep in mind that opportunities do sometimes arise which you could take advantage of. For instance, do you now live in a urban area with a high crime rate? If you do, then it would not hurt for you to look for job opportunities in more quiet and subdued rural areas.

Additionally, you can minimizer your exposure to violence simply by listening to your own inner warning voices. So many people ignore their own better sense about such things, and though they have strong suspicions that they are walking straight toward trouble -- young men clustered on a street corner with nobody else in sight -- they tell themselves that they are just being paranoid and that they should not let fear run their lives -- and so they get mugged or raped because they did not heed the warning voices that were sounding as loud as sirens in their head. refer back to your own dream, where you made no effort to conceal yourself from or to evade a known enemy.

In a violent world, one is not wise to suppress every consideration of sensible caution. Many people who find it to be an ideal for themselves to be 'non-violent', an admirable quality, decide to suppress not only the aggressive side of violence, but also every consideration of defense and escape, as though they were acting as though violence does not exist for them. But it does.

I was a World Traveler for awhile and spoke to many other World Travelers, and we nearly all found that World Travelers develop a Six Sense Instinct for avoiding dangers. When one is on foreign soil and knows nothing of one's surroundings or the people milling about, then one learns to listen closely for that small voice in the head that whispers of caution and approves of going right while holding one back from going left, and one stops considering whether or not one had any 'good reasons' for doing what simply seems best because it feels that way.

I'm guessing this dream is not about violence but sexuality. You were hiding the gun, as a palvic symbol, from the cop meaning you are hiding your sexuality from authority. And to hide it from your friend might be a fear of seduction.
Someone throwing dirt on you may be some sleazy or smut. The beating I cannot guess on. Everyone beating everyone might be that you sense you are not alone in your feelings. Death in dreams represents change and being shot in the forehead may be that you have changed in the way you think.
The bad kid may be a part of yourself unto yourself even if he exists in real life. The question is what qualities do you associate with him? The whole meaning may be about a personal development. Sorry if I'm completely wrong, and good luck if I'm right.

This is not the Victorian Era any longer. Our Dreams no longer have to Euphemize Sex. Nowadays dreams about sex can be quite literal about it. Nobody is ashamed anymore, and so these things no longer have to be hid behind symbols.

Besides, does anybody really take Freud seriously anymore. Wasn't that like a hundred years ago? And nobody really supposes that Freud really believed everything all about sex. It was his way of being naughty enough to be so overwhelmingly talked about. He was the Pacaso of Psychiatrists. Nothing made any sense, but WOW it certainly was distinctive. But creating a Psychiatrict Theory with built in tantalization, seems to suggest a degree of pandering that is less than professional. And nowadays the general acceptance of Freud as a serious theorist suffers for these perceptions of himself as a sleezy opportunist.... the D.H. Lawrence of Doctors... selling himself to a sexually frustrated upper middle class.

I'm surprised to find anybody that still speaks in those antiquated terms.
