I dreamt that I was with (association) other three people (3 can symbolise completeness, unity. "you" in the dream are an addition to this, making 4) and we found an entrance (Way into something) to an underground cave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave: A cave or cavern is a hollow place in the ground,[1][2] especially natural underground space large enough for a human to enter. Caves form naturally by the weathering of rock{Built over time where a hard material is worn down to make a place which can act as a shelter} and often extend deep underground.).

There was some kind of congregation there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congregation: A congregation is a large gathering of people, often for the purpose of worship.), with people who seemed to belong to two different groups: the Venus (Venus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty) one and the Mars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars: Mars is named after the Roman god of war. In different cultures, Mars represents masculinity and youth. Its symbol, a circle with an arrow pointing out to the upper right, is also used as a symbol for the male gender.) one, which I assume refer to gender identity. (Sounds reasonable in the context of your dream, however I wouldn't discount the war element, which could also refer to inner conflict, which red can also symbolise- being the red planet.)

We had to reach the front of the meeting by taking one of two roads: if you chose (So people belonged to one of 2 groups, but they had a choice of the road to the "front") Venus you had to walk on the right (Right can symbolise good, positive) side of the room and the left (When people shook hands in the old days, shaking with the left hand would be a sign of dishonesty with the right hand perhaps holding a sword to kill.) side was for Mars. I thought that hey, I'm a girl (who/what you are) and I do feel like a girl (Feelings are consistent with what you are), so I chose the right side. had to walk on small pieces of red rug (Interesting you used rug, rather than carpet. I think of a rug as a covering which can be moved, cleaned & replaced, whereas a carpet is more permanent. Given they were pieces, it seems they were not attached. They would have provided protection for your feet (walk/path) from being injured on the cave floor) up to the front (When we are at the front, we can be seen by others.), we weren't allowed to step outside those pieces (Perhaps some protection for your feet on the cave floor.). When we arrived in the front, the other three people I'd come in with (So it seems you entered together but took different paths) received some kind of diplomas, certificates of membership (Ratification/approval/qualification.) or something (there was a tomboy-like girl (Individuality) who'd chosen Mars, a girl with Venus, I think, and a boy, I'm not sure what he chose {There is still the "approval" even the choice not to be known, he still received a certificate }), but I didn't receive any, because it seems that my choice had been wrong (by whose definition?).

Key themes in the dream from my point of view are: gender, identity/belonging, choice, approval. I see more individuality in the dream rather than sexual activity gender preference. I can't see symbols I would normally associate with sexual activity.
