Join the army, meet interesting people... kill em'

Bare with me here as this dream is quite a long one, and damn confusing at that.

It begins with everyone I know being summoned to the local golf course. We are all standing around, making small talk, when suddenly a huge explosion rips through the air, and I mean this was perhaps the most vivid thing I've ever seen. A huge fireball arch's in the sky, everyone around is almost floored by the shockwave.
      My friend N was in a bad way, I tried to help him when to my left I saw a man in a suit laughing quite heartily. I asked him what he thought was so funny, to which he replied;
"Well it's off to war with the lot of you, go on die for me"
I was so angered by the injustice that I spat on his shoe, he merely smiled and said,
"Off to the front with you boy, and ah yes, your friend here too!"

Next thing I know im in WW2 Rangers uniform, and on a beach landing, the beach has already been captured. I wonder around a bit, there's some sporadic fire up ahead, and I notice a general trying to yell orders into a radio. I approach him and ask if it's normal to be nervous before a battle, he said he was scared shittless.
I then hear that my friend H has been wounded, so me and my other friends go to try and rescue him.

When we get to the hospital we find H laying in a bed, I noticed that his bed is actually a map of the world. We then get summoned to go to the front. We pass the gate guard, who are all eating beans and doing jigs. Once from the gate we break into a run, as we can hear the battle ahead. Along the way we pass a group of pimps (!?) admiring each others tricked out rides, we pass them and they don't notice us.

Finally we reach the beach. When we get there, there isn't much going on. I set up a machine gun on a high point facing down on the beach, my friends spread out.
Suddenly we make contact, the enemy (who has no distinctive features apart from brown uniforms) comes around from large rocks on the beach. I open fire and begin to mow them down. A rocket zooms a few inches past my face, then a grenade lands next to me, so I displace and run down to a pot hole, where I continue to fire.
Suddenly, the attack ends, we survey the damage. My friend N couldn't believe he killed someone, I too am also disturbed by the fact I killed someone.

We then decide to go AWOL. Next thing I know we are in the city, some hookers come up to us and offer their service to us, but we refuse. We then go and find a small cabin, drink alot and I rock back and forth on a hamok singing "This is the life, join the army!"

And thats it, if anyone could give me their thoughts as to what it might mean that'd be appreciated. Cheers..

      Dear Mr. Deadhead,

Sometimes dreams are quite literal. Your dream draws and picture and tells a story. First we have what every Political Leader in the World prays for and seems to do everything they can think of to provoke, and that is an Act of War that can be trumpetted as a clear Provocation to War. Some Politicians, like Bush and Blair, don't bother to wait and go to War anyway, but as they found, it eventually runs them into trouble. The Old Guy laughing, was laughing out of Knowledge and Experience. He knew what would bring on a War, and that the young men would either be rounded up to fight, or propagandized into volunteering. The Wealthy Arms Dealers would all make their money, and the stock equities for Defense Contracters would again become the best investment on the Market, for those not squeamish about living in leisure on blood money.

The Pimps indicate all of the Subcultures and the Underground Communities that would find it silly to participate in the Elite Society's Wars.

Your battle scene was quite realistic. You are lucky you survived. You know, back in WWII the strategy for taking a beach was to send enough men on shore at a time so that the enemies guns would overheat before they could kill every single one. On Normandy Beach at D-Day the Germans ran out of their vast stockpile of bullets. That was the plan. The great strategy for victory, to throw more body's into the grave than the Germans had bullets for. And for nothing. Allied Forces had already landed in Italy and were on Continental European Soil. I have a feeling that the Politicians were still reeling from the Great Depression and the large glut of surplus labor being a threat of social unrest, and so D Day was designed to do what it in fact accomplished, to dispose of thousands of people who would no longer be requiring Paychecks from the grave.

Perhaps the most important element of your Dream was in the choice that you made. You decided to abandon your Post. Not traditionally the most admirable course of action, but certainly not an unprecedented one. In every War there have always been a great many deserters. Napolean used to distribute large rations of Rum and Brandy while still within the French Frontiers in order to give his Troops a reason to stay in the ranks, and the risk of a high desertion rate would only diminish as the Troops realized that they had nowhere else to go. But even then, the Tradition of Officers carrying swords and sidearms is not intended so that they can directly fight the enemy, no, it was so that they could kill any of their men who would turn their backs on the Enemy. The men were made to understand that they would be killed one way or the other, and so they might as well die by the Enemy's hand than by their own officers. Additionally, this is why there has never been any lack of Officers dying from friendly fire from their own troops. It has always been rare in Military History for men to have any admiration for their Officers. Indeed, the reason why every Army in the World is run on the Model of a Caste Society -- Officers above the level of the common men, is because the System needs to encourage the idea that the men are expendable, simple commodities of war. It is easier for Officers to send the common men to their death because they are encouraged to think of them as not much above the level of animals -- two-legged live stock for the slaughter.

So what is the overall meaning of your dream. Well, I don't see you enlisting any time soon to go off and be a Foreign Contingent in George Bush's War. Your dream has given you some insight that would be difficult to forget no matter how much public enthusiasm is urging you to go off and die for other people's political and financial interests.

I wonder, my brother is in the military (recently returned from Iraq) and I wonder how much significance this has. I have, on many an occasion considered a military career, but have post-poned it (for many reasons that I wish not to discuss) Perhaps this dream reflects that?

I had been in the Military, and at one time found a job assignment that allowed me the spare time to also offer myself as a Red Cross Volunteer in an Army Hospital, where I was careful not to tell any of the Young Soldiers that I was a Sergeant in my Other Life. I found out something interesting. It seems that Soldiers who do not need the Military often come down with mysterious but very reall illnesses that initiate the process of having them removed from Active Service, when it is that they automatically recover. The strangest instance was of a young soldier, a Caucasion, actually turning purple from head to toe. Yes, purple. They sent him to the Big Hospital in the Nation's Capital and they could not determine the cause, or even the source of the Pigment change. But the moment they processed the paperwork to have the young man discharged, guess what? The stange pigmentation instantly began to reverse itself.

Anyway, do your Body a favor, and if you do not NEED to be in the Military, then try your conscientious best to avoid it. Particularly with the dream you have. There are those Souls out there who have no reluctance at all about killing. Let them Join Up. The World can well survive if you decide not to throw your weight on what may well be the wrong side of a Civil War between the Shia and the Sunnis. We need only look at it objectively. The Shia are fighting to support the results of a Coup that only transpired when they betrayed their Borders to a Foreign Invader -- they sold out their National Integrity for a larger piece of the Political Pie. The Sunnis are fighting for their National Integrity. It just seems to me that the Foreign Invaders have no real place in the equation, and are only acting the part of intruders. We all need to remember that there were NO Weapons of Mass Destruction and that Saddam Husein actually DID comply with all of the UN Directives, didn't he. The accusations that Saddam Hussein was lying were in fact Lies. So these Foreign Armies should have in fact withdrawn, with apologies. Indeed, the accusations that Saddam Hussein had maltreated his populations can now be seen in the light of just how treasonous some of his Populations could be. That so many people in Iraq were Traitors justifies, in retrospect, the cautionary measures he took as Chief Magistrate in attempting to mitigate such acts of High Treason against the integrity of the State. Indeed, we can compare Husseins instances of alleged Cruelty then against the instances of Murder and Cruelty now taking place. Certainly, the last few years have seen a greater wholesale and continuous pattern of cruelty and murder than had become ordinary under Saddam's Administration. Indeed, now the People of Iraq look back upon his Administration as The Good Old Days.

Then we need to wonder just what a Shia Democracy in Iraq will amount to. Are American and British Troops fighting and dying in Iraq so that another Islamic Republic can take hold? Are Western Troops fighting to support a nacent Enemy? It would seem so. We need to remember that the Bathist Party and Saddam Hussein had been hand picked by the CIA decades ago BECAUSE they were deemed most compatible with the West and the interests of the United States and Britain. It was intended that the Shia should be suppressed. Who would want another Iranian Style Revolution in Iraq, right on the borders of the Arabian Oil Fields. George Bush Senior understood so much. But now we are putting our True Enemies into power because we had some difference of opinion with a man we should have seen as an Old Friend. Afterall, when Iran was the Enemy, did not Saddamn Hussein wage a Proxy War against Iran for the benefit of the United States, which cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis? and then what gratitude do we show? Yes, they invaded Kuwait. But what did Kuwait -- some shabby little corrupt Kingdom -- ever do for the United States. It would have been a small enough reward to Iraq for what they had suffered in behalf of America.

So, where there is no clear Moral or Political incentive to fight, as one would certainly be ordered to fight, then it would certainly be best to eschew any sense of obligation to fight. So, unless you are drafted, see if you can find some other career.
