      Recurring concept

I have noticed in all of my dreams there is someone I knew in high school. I hardly spend time with any of those people anymore, yet I see them in my dreams every night. I graduated 2 years ago and have a different friend-base now. In fact, half the kids I see in my dream, I never really hung out with much at all! What is going on?

I have the exact same thing happening to me! I ahve been out of highschool now for 3 years.
In many of my dreams, I see a lot of my old friends. What surprises me more is that I also see a lot of people that I never hung out with in highschool. In every case in my dreams, when I am back with old friends, we may not be doing something that we particularly did, but more of the style of the friends if this makes sense. Like your new frind base, do they talk about different subjects? have different styles of humor? like to do different stuff? ... the list goes on. I think that with dreams like this, it is our own minds that kind of go back and 'remember what it was like' with those other groups of people. I relate it to wearing a hat all day then taking it off. You sometimes feel a phantom hat still on your head because your mind is used to having that stimulus there. When it is removed, the mind makes up for the loss. So, if you had that previous friend base for a long period of time, maybe your own mind is filling in thier absence with it's own abstractions of what it was like to be around with them

My thoughts only..... feel free to write this all off as complete bs

interesting analogy with the hat. That makes perfect sense too.

I think all the effort I spent "fitting in" gave these people lasting impressions with me. It is totally strange because a dream I had last night had about 5 dream characters with whom I never spent time! I was meeting a girl with whom I hardly spoke for a movie! How bizarre! Yet these situations are common in my dreams lately. Maybe it's being back home for the winter break and having recently been in touch with old friends sparking these dreams.

Glad to know I'm not alone

I have been out of High School and College for quite a while (I'm 26) and I still have dreams about ebing in school, my old friends etc. I think my mind is trying to tell me that I havn't grown up=P

Don't the years just fly by after graduation? You can't believe it when it's been 5 years, it seems more like 6 months. Then you can't believe it when it's been 10 years. After that you're use to it.
Maybe that is the cause of the dreams, shock.
