Question Dream about a burning red sky

Hello. I'd like to introduce myself quickly before detailing my dream, as well as somebody in it that I believe plays an important role. I am a 22 year old College student living in Philadelphia, PA. I'm generally a very relaxed person with a good sense of humor, though extremely sarcastic and sometimes dry. When it comes time to do work, though, I tend to be very serious. I have a solid group of friends and a girlfriend whom I have absolutely no doubts about marrying (she feels the same way. We talk about it a lot). I haven't been under a ton of stress lately, but with my senior year on the horizon and full-time work, I can say I have plenty of reason to be stressed. I like the outdoors and hiking and whatnot, though I rarely actually do so. Instead I spend most of my free time with friends/GF indoors playing games or joking around. I rarely remember my dreams. In all my life I can recall maybe a half dozen, so when I do remember one it usually sticks.

As for the friend in my dream, her name is Jen. She's one of those people who's way more mature than her age. She's 24 but acts like she's in her mid-30s. Although she has a sense of humor, she's more likely to enter into a political discussion than tell a joke. The thing to keep in mind with her is that she's very pagan. If you happen to believe in paganism (I'm still not sure what I believe and what I don't), then it might be wise to know that she claims to be a very old pagan (her sister lived in the pagan Atlantis) who has lived many past lives. Although we've talked about it because I'm curious about things I'm not aware of, she has only on 1 or 2 occasions only ever done something particularly pagan. Once when my friends thought I was getting alcohol poisoning (my 21st bday went a little sour), and again when we were playing cards at my old job. You'll see why I had to mention her in a minute.

      So here's the dream:
I was with some strange mix of High school and college friends, and we were all on this
class trip. It was in this small, spanish-looking town on a long hill. At the top was this one hotel with a multi-leveled pool. It was being run by my grade school gym teacher, and everyone was having a lot of fun. I was hanging out with some people for a while, just swimming around, but it got really weird near the end. Way out in the distance there were some mountains, and a long flat plain between them and the town. We heard some thunder and looked over, and it looked like a huge storm was rolling in. My gym
teacher told everyone to get out of the pool and go home, and she sounded like it was serious. Everyone sort of rushed to their cars (which were all strange, like a car that was just a futuristic huge wheel, etc). I didn't run to my car, because my eyes were sort of glued to the horizon. The storm was making the horizon this foreboding crimson color, and the mountains looked like they had this black haze around them. Plus the lightning looked all screwed up, though I can't remember exactly how. It was all very surreal, like out of Lord of the Rings or something. From behind me I heard Jen say "You see it too?" I turned around and said "Yea, what the hell is it?" but when I turned back it looked like a normal storm. As I said out loud "What happened to it?" she walked up and put the palms of her hands on my back. When she did that, the sky rapidly morphed back into what I had seen. I actually remember falling down when it happened because I was so surprised. The feeling was overwhelming, like I had just seen something no regular person was meant to see. I was about to ask what happened, but then I woke up.

So is there any sort of significance to what I saw?

Red usually gets associated with anger. Did Jen piss you off recently, even slightly? Dreams get extremely exaggerated when it comes to emotions. You might have had a fight with her about what song to listen to on the radio and your dreams could turn that into a storm red sky. It probably had something to do with her because of the fact that it came back when she touched you.

Or, it could be day residue. I had a dream with a red sky about a week ago, I didn't write it down, but your post made me remember it. I had been listening to Bob Dylan all day and "Under a Red Sky," must have seeped into my brain.

When people show up in your dream it's because they're relating however you feel about that person with the issue you're dealing with in your life. So Jen can represent maturity, or deviant beliefs, or even a connection with the beyond.

Red alone does not necessarily just mean anger. It more typically means fear or alertness, though it can also mean power, in this situation it definitely seems to be representing fear. When red and gray come together, it usually means depression.

A storm can represent angry outbursts and passion, which is why the above poster might have believed there was an argument going on. However more oftenly it represents feeling battered by emotional problems or stressful situations.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
