very confusing dreams, with the same message each time!

Here's some background info: my boyfriend and I (of 2 yrs) broke up about a month ago. He'd always stress over the possibility that I could become pregnant, but thankfully it never happened.

This is actually a series of 3 dreams that I've recently had on different nights (each with the same basic message), and I'm confused/worried about their meaning.

Dream 1: I was standing in an open unknown place, when the same boyfriend that I already mentioned came toward me and playfully punched me in the stomach. I shouted at him, "Don't do that! I'm pregnant! You could hurt the baby!" I hesitated, bewildered, and said aloud "Baby? What baby? I'm pregnant?" Then I experienced a strange, sharp pain in my stomach. [The next day in REAL LIFE I felt the same pain]

Dream 2: I was sitting on the patient's bed in a doctor's office during a casual check-up. Someone else (male) was there with me, but I'm unsure who. It popped into my head that it was the month September. The doctor walked in with a smile on his face and declared, "Good news! You're pregnant!" Shocked, I said to him "I can't be pregnant! I've been getting my period! There's no way I can be pregnant if I've been getting my period!" His smile now replaced with a more serious face, he told me that although it's uncommon some women can experience something they mistake for a period while pregnant. Some never find out until they're in labor. Then the dream takes a weird turn. As if having a "vision" in my dream, I look at my belly and "see" the baby inside of me. It's red all over and seems small to me. I know that something is wrong. I see it as if I'm about to give birth to it, but my body "swallows" it while inside me and it's never born. (sorry if that was gross!)

Dream 3: I'm living in a city this dream, running around doing errands (?). I see myself as if from someone else's perspective the whole dream. I watch myself grab lunch, go to a bookstore, go to the grocery store, make a phone call, and things that would make it a normal day. Then I'm walking up to my apartment (the door is outside, open to the street but behind a small fence with a very lush garden behind it). My step-mother walks out in front of me and tells me that my doctor called to tell me my results- I'm pregnant. I turn away from her to think to myself for a bit to take this news in, when a very mysterious voice announces "THIS IS NOT JUST A DREAM. YOU REALLY ARE PREGNANT."

So... there's the 3 dreams I've had. Maybe you can see why I might be confused. Just to be safe, I've taken 2 dollar-store brand home pregnancy tests. Both were negative. But the message in the third dream (which I had last night) confuses me. I'm wondering if these dreams are based on fears, if they symbolize something different, or if (like the message in the third dream stated) these dreams are trying to tell me what some cheap tests couldn't. I'd REALLY appreciate input!!! THANK YOU!

      Hi Ally,

The best I can say on this is: Go to the Doctor! Get a real pregnancy test, as that is probably the only thing that will put your mind at rest. These do sound as if they are really trying to make you aware of a real pregnancy, but also of a possible miscarriage. If it was just anxiety about being pregnant after breaking up, I don't think they would be so detailed. Most often if the fetus is damaged or unhealthy, it will naturally be miscarried during the first trimester. I miscarried my fourth child during the third month of pregnancy, and it can be very upsetting and unpleasant, and can also require what they call a D&C or Dilation and Curettage, if the womb needs to be cleaned out to avoid infection after a miscarriage. So you need to take this seriously, and go get a real test done and talk to the doctor about your dreams. Some will listen and take them seriously. Print out what you wrote and take it with you.

      All best...
