My dream journal for the past 6 months or so seems to be taking a pattern, I only seem to be writing down about one dream every month within the space of a few days:-

Tue Feb 14, 2006

Wed Feb 22, 2006

Mon Apr 17, 2006*

You can see the pattern more in the last 3 months. I think if I focus more attention on my dreams I can try and write down more.

I’ve just finished work and I get into a car/taxi with about three people I know from work. I want to leave because I wanted to walk home alone. I say something like:- “well, take me to the end of the street then” and I reluctantly get into the taxi. The person driving the taxi takes it to the end of the street, I make a joke about how much its going to cost and suddenly after a few seconds the driver knocks into another car that is parked up outside a shop. The driver (who I don’t really like in real life) pretends nothing has happened and then drives of saying something like: “this isn’t my car, its my friends so I cant get caught”. We end up driving to the countryside with a sudden transition in the dream (takes about 5 seconds in dream time) and drive through roller coaster type hills down valleys and banks. I get angry that I’m in the car and don’t wont to be there. I end up shouting at the driver repeatedly and we engage in an argument and I get out at the nearest sign of life and refuse to go any further. I swear my head off and tell the person what I really think of him (feelings I have in real life that I cannot express to his face because he has a slight position of authority). I call him a “stupid fuc**ng idiot”. I decide to walk all the way home alone, not concerned with the distance, just as long as I’m alone…….

I ask a women for directions and she says something to me and I reply: “Its not a matter of saying yes or no, I didn’t want to get into the car in the first place”. She tells me not to be smug.

I go into a garage and ask for directions to where I live. I find out from the guy I can get a bus back home but its next to Asda which is a few miles away. There was an Asian man in the petrol station and he gave me directions; told me to walk past an Asian place of worship and through some other places. Like with any directions given I couldn’t fully remember what the person said to me, I just knew the general direction. I remember leaving a cup of tea in the building upon leaving and the man shouted me back to fetch it.

I start to walk home and suddenly wake up…….

------

I think this dream express’ my simmering discontent with my working environment, I feel like I’m to some extent being ‘pinched’ and slowly drawn into the one-dimensional and 'basic' atmosphere, where I prefer to be left alone to get on with my work by myself. I have a few friends at work but various people (who I don’t get on with) are trying to integrate me into their ‘friendship’. I have felt a sense of animosity at work with a few people for some time now due to various reasons and I feel this dream express’ these concerns.

I guess a way to resolve my feelings.
Hey, that sounded like a pretty intense dream you had there...
sounded pretty vivid as well!

Plane Crash

I had a dream that I was on an airplane. I was going on a trip with a few ‘friends’, some people unknown to me and a few people I know in real life. It all felt slightly strange because for some reason I knew the plane was going to crash even before it took off for flight. I had a sixth sense that it would never get to our destination (which was unknown to me). There was lots of in-between stuff before we took off that I cannot recall. I was talking to a friend about Whiskey and how the BA (British Airways) flights give you a drink to help calm your nerves. Its someone I know called George who works with my girlfriend who cant really speak much English so I asked him if he knew what I was saying with the words I used, he seemed to understand the basics of what I was saying.

I think I knew there was a problem when all the staff for the flight were turning up late, I thought that the organisation was terrible compared to British Airways.

As the plane was getting ready (late due to technical difficulties) we were driving through the streets because there was no room on the runway. I didn’t question the absurdness of the situation, for some reason I just seemed to accept it and didn’t question the fact this could be a dream sign.

We finally set off for the runway and as the plane took off it moved slightly to one side and the wing to the plane unexpectedly smashed into the ground and I felt what the reality was like to be in a ‘real’ plane crash. All the sensations were as real as day. The noises created a sense of fear……

It felt like the plane actually crashed while it was taking off on the runway.

After we all escaped the plane we were all glad to be alive. With the happiness we all kissed and hugged each other exchanging how we felt about what happened.

The feeling of impending death made me feel as though I wanted to be sick. I was so happy to be alive at that moment I knew it was going to be ok.

Next time I thought to myself I will take a boat to wherever I need to go.

Okay, that was a seriously scary dream. At least there's one thing to be said. you didn't have that dream right before we went to America, or it might have put you off!
I'm not sure if there's any symbolism behind this one, i used to be really good at interpretations, but not so much now...
I guess i've been too distracted of late...

There are a few dreams that I remembered over the last few week that I forgot to write down into my journal. They are taken from scraggily written bits of paper and might be a little sketchy and vague for people other than myself to understand.

Shadow Character with House on Hill[/b]

The first thing I remember is someone trying to break into my girlfriends house. I recall the dogs were making a relatively quiet yet unsettled noise so I went to check on them. They wee both out of their crate and seemed quite content. I walked out of the garden and saw a shadow of a man I presume was trying to break into my girlfriends house. He started to run away and I pursued him but he was to quick. Upon returning to the house the events are slightly miss-ordered.

I recall the dogs running around happily as day in the back garden, they are with other dogs playing games.

I wondered why the individual didn’t steel anything from the house.

The next thing I know is I’m walking through town. I spot the guy who was trying to break in. I became aware its him and chase him, but the strange thing is the character doesn’t run away or seemed fazed, he just walks and talks along with me.

We later walk upon his house which stands on a huge hill above the town. We begin to talk and I notice that the whole town is in view of his house, it’s a beautiful view. There’s not really much more that I can remember from the dream except vague fragments:-

+ Watching people on top of the hill while inside the mans house, looking down at the beautiful view.

+ Trying to remember what the man looked like while he was running away from my girlfriends house.

+ Watching the dogs while they were playing happily with other dogs.

+
My dream recall seems to be improving very slightly as I seem to be remembering more dreams.

this is an interesting dream, i remember you talking to me about it, and you said it was as if the shadow man was sort of like some kind of guard.
I wonder what it means, i need to get back into interpretation i think....

I had an interesting dream that i'm going to post in my journal, so that you can have a look

Thanks for the reply Liz

I think that shadowy type character was the representation of the 'shadow' or some sort of dream guide. I seem to dream about people showing me dream-like things but because they don’t tell me they are dream guides I don’t realise it and don’t ask them questions while I’m Lucid

It would be interesting to look at interpretation again, but sometimes its difficult to understand what a dream is trying to say when you cant remember them very well.

I think i need to start putting my efforts into recall again.

I check your dreams often, they are very fascinating, I will check out your new dream

This dream is quite random isn't it? what a lot of strange things to happen! it annoys me when dreams are like that, and don't seem to have a 'story'.
I wonder if there is some scope for interpretation of the watermelon tree, like some kind of fertility thing?
You know, with the fruit being really large and falling off the tree...
maybe there's something in your life that is very 'fruitful' (no pun intended) just now...

The threshold – sitting on the doorstep of "Lucidity"

Almost had a Lucid Dream

I was on a train that was travelling to an unknown destination. Lots of people were on the train. There were only two sections to the train, both were “First Class”. I thought it was strange that a train would only have First Class seats without a Standard Class section. I went looking for the standard class, but couldn’t find anymore compartments as I walked to both ends of the train.

I walked past someone who looked at me with an air of thoughtful deliberation , I looked into their face which seemed to reflect an insightful awareness and I asked him:-

Is this a Dream?

The dream-guide type character said something that I forgot but I’m sure it was something to do with keeping calm and telling me not to get over excited so I could maintain my level of Lucidity. The dream suddenly turned off, like a television screen on standby. Even though everything was black I was still conscious and tried to re-enter the dream and carry on the feeling I experienced but the lucidity faded.

The dream sort of reminded me of Spirited Away, the scene when the girl is sitting on a train.

Strange sort of dream that was due to the weather.

I had a strange fragmented night of sleep which caused me to have anxiety driven dreams.

'choo choo...'

it's a shame you sort of lost your lucidity and couldn't try the spinning technique.
Maybe next time that happens, you could yell 'lucidity on'.
think of it as being voice activated.
Or you could rummage for a remote control to flick it on, but that might be too difficult...
The heat has stopped me having dreams altogether for the mo, cos i keep waking up and not remembering...grr...
Roll on winter.

At sea or in some sort of ocean environment that resembles a huge pond, I’m going through a complex training exercise.

People

A stern authoritarian women instructor who guides us towards some sort of course involves training towards something.

Strange Items

I was in the water with another person and this male instructor showed us the power of the water and created a short of whirlwind effect that pushed us around in a circle, sort of like rapids. Fear clouded my mind at first but it shortly settled with an air of freedom and exuberance. He was telling us various things as we moved around in the direction of the water.

I was on a boat standing around with various other people; we were all looking at the beautiful view at the side of us. It was full of hills and valley’s that spun for miles and miles. One of the instructors on the ship told us not to stand around because we didn’t have the time.

----------

This was a strange sort of dream that I don’t fully remember. It all appears fragmented in my mind. I bullet-pointed my notes upon awakening and that helped to blur the in-between ‘stuff’ that is vital to dream recall to bridge the gaps.

I recall something bizarre happening involving a packet of rice I was trying to hide in a toilet. I was trying to hide the food from the instructor and placed it into the loo and when I pulled it out again the packet opened and it was all spoilt by toilet water.

Trip to Nightclub

Monday 6th Aug 2006
2:50am:

Had a sleep that was full of dreams. I woke up with it all fresh in my mind. I went to sleep at around 9:00pm, it couldn’t have been much later. Going to bed early was a good advantage.

When I woke up I remember something to do with forgetting to take the diary home with me from Liz’s house.

Another dream I remembered later in the night was going somewhere with Liz (again). We are invited to a nightclub by one of her friends from work. We are both quite reluctant to go out but we decide it might be ok even if we are slightly discontent. We both arrive in the small town clueless to the destination of the club. We walk around in the dark to try and find this place, but we have no luck and it seems impossible to find it. We ask a few people for directions, they tell us where the club is (the name of which we have both forgot). Looking around we find various other concerts/raves. We decide its best for us to phone her friend to ask her where she is. She gives us directions and we get to the club. The only problem is it costs £7 to get in and we refuse to pay that sort of money. We are at the entrance and then have an idea. There are couples outside the club who are ‘making out’ and they walk back into the club without any fuss. We both pretend to dress like we have just ‘done the deed’ with our t-shirts all messy and unbuttoned etc. The women at the door lets us in without paying because she thinks we have already paid. Another thing is I don’t have my wallet cause Liz said she has put it somewhere safe for me.

Upon entering the club its quite disappointing, the music is not very exciting. We decide to look for our seats in the cinema type establishment. I want to sit at the front cause I have forgotten my glasses, but we sit next to Liz’s work friend and her boyfriend. The music starts to get interesting and it appears someone that looks like Ian Brown is at the front of the stage. The only problem is the concert ends after one song because we were late. We missed the concert.

After leaving I ask Liz about my wallet and she said she posted it through a letter box of a shop so it would be safe until the morning and we could collect it when it opened. I think about the shop and I imagine it to be a wedding shop or Liz tells me it’s a wedding shop.

When I think about it the last two dreams ive had are quite similar in content, they both include music and musicians i like(maybe i should consider these things dreamsigns in the future, or try to focus my attention on recall).

Not remembered many dreams as of late, my dreams are difficult to recall. I remember what the dream is about but beyond that I don’t really have a developed picture in my mind of the particulars. The content of my dreams seem vague and fuzzy, like they seem to disappear when I wake up. I think when I do wake up I need to focus my attention on recall, perhaps stay in bed for 10 min before actually doing anything so I can focus on my dreams. Therefore the memory of the dream is fresh in my mind. Trying to stay awake and conscious without falling asleep is difficult, its like walking across a plank of wood that is positioned between two stones across a small river, I usually fall off into the water below and get pushed along with the surge of water. I think if I close my eyes and drift through the content it might help me to find the sequence of events that link to my dreams. Even if the details are unclear and muddled it is still a good idea to get into the habit of writing down my dreams.

When I wake up I need to ask myself:-

“What Was I Dreaming”?

Then stay in bed for at least 10 min un-disturbed by daily events, not letting anything else cloud my mind (things that I have to do etc). Replay the images back in my head and backtrack.

I had a lucid dream recently but I didn’t really focus while I was having it or when I woke up from the dream. All I remember was asking a women behind a counter if this was a dream and she didn’t answer me, just looked at me with a blank expression.

I could have pursued the dream further if I had attained more consciousness while asleep.

I write em down in me head but rarely transfer it to paper - i've been dreaming of death quite alot - dreaming of dead people and feeling like they are alive, anybody else dream about people who have passed away and in the dream they are alive again? Maybe i should post the question in the main forum.
