And here goes another one! I guess for now, I'll just be putting my dreams out there... Never had a dream journal before, so I'm curious to see where it leads.
Today's dream: burning birds and severed limbs
EW it's so sick. I have two alarm clocks, one that wakes me around 6:25 and another one that wakes me again at 6:50. Between them, I experienced this.
Part 1: The Accident.
Road trip. I remember bing in some car on the road (vegetation would indicate Germany or Canada, forests and pastures) and listening to the radio. There's a report about an accident and at its end, they ask some kind of question about how the car that was in the accident could have gotten to the position where it ended up. Subsequently, the same kind of accident happens to me, there's a large truck involved and somehow we (there's another dude driving my car, I'm in the passenger seat, alternately watching the scenes unfold as a movie and being in them first-hand) seem to try to dodge the truck, then we're next to it, kind of overtaking, then in front of it and it's now across the road, sliding towards us - we get caught under the trailer. which then proves how the accident from the radio happened.
Part 2: The Cops.
I remember afterwards there's some sort of conversation with the truck driver, I think he's talking to some cops, standing in the streets when in the middle of it, my driver (now I can see him clearly, he's a bearded guy, never seen him before in my waking life) punches the truck driver in the face repeatedly. This has no effect on him, in fact, he just keeps right on talking to the cops.
Something else happens afterwards, but I have no clear recollection of it, I just remember getting into some sort of talk with the guy/people from the truck and seeing the inside of the truck's cockpit, which has no seats in it for some reason.
Part 3: Fragments of film.
The road trip continues in something that alternates between RV, bus and family car. I'm witch a bunch of people, I remember one young lady in particular who's sitting in the back of the bus. I have snippets of scenes happening in other places than the road, dark, possibly a castle, and involving the girl. She's a smart and confident one and makes smart and confident comments repeatedly.
Part 4: Inferno and Mayhem.
Shortly before I wake up, I'm back on the road, watching the scenery roll by by the roadside when I see burning birds (it's a flock, the ones at the front are not on fire) flying off into the sky, next I see they come from burning trees, then I see a bunch of people dragging a burning tree by the roadside, setting fire to the forest with it. I point that out to my parents, who are in the front (seat) of whatever vehicle we're driving. I consider calling the cops on their butts, it's in broad daylight and everything, but then wondering whether they'd get here on time. Through the back window, I see the arsonists wielding chainsaws, and one of them cuts off the arm of another, blood flying and all (I'm a horror movie fan, so I'm never surprised or alienated by explicit gore in my dreams). As the guy at the chainsaw-receiving end turns around, his arm is still attached, which is sort of impossible. He has a huge wound though. I remember thinking I should be pretty shocked now because after all, this is happening "for real" (so much for lucid dreaming). I tell my dad to step on it because of what just happened, at the same time the guys are coming closer. When I look at the road ahead, I see that we just got to the end of a long traffic jam, which puts us in a trap, what with chainsaw-wielding arsonist-psychopaths closing in and all. Somewhere before or after that, the smart and confident girl (dark hair, dressed in black but with some features on her clothes, btw) makes a smart and confident remark.
Part 5: Consciousness.
As I wake up, already half-conscious, the last thing I tell my dad is to turn the hell around. That's where the dream ends. As I lie awake, I ponder that we're pretty much screwed either way because even if we turn around (the other lane of the road is free), these people could just step in front of us and stop us. But then again, we could run over them. Which might, however, tip the car over.
I decide to get up and start a peaceful-non-violent day
From what I remember, all the dialogues in my dream were in German (my mother tongue). I point that out because I do dream in English a lot, or both E and G.
Gee, I hate dubbed dreams :-D
Movie references.
There's some horror movie imagery in here, obviously. One movie that I clearly had in mind was Final Destination 2 (the mass accident at the beginning) and/or Premonition (the accident scene at the end, the whole movie builds up to that and the question how and why the accident is going to happen is definitely there, so I think my dream was very much referencing that). When my driver punches the guy in the face, that's a reference to "The Man Who Wasn't There". At the end of that one, a lawyer's courtroom speech is cut short by the defendant's colleague punching the defendant in the face (contrary to my dream, this has a major effect).
Crazy... All this in not more than 10 minutes. When you experience it, it's like nothing (even more than you would expect from 10 minutes of sleep), but typing this out amounts to more than I expected!
