      Inconsistent dream recall

I've had my dream journal for 11 days now, and in that time I've remembered 19 dreams. On the one hand I'm happy that I've been averaging more than a dream a night I can remember, but I'm also kind of disappointed because my recall is so inconsistent. I've had 4 nights where I didn't remember any dreams, then I've had a couple nights where I've remembered 3-4 dreams, along with some nights where I remember 1 or 2. I'm happy even when I only remember 1 dream, because since I've been doing this my dreams have gotten longer and a lot more vivid, but it sucks when I can't remember a thing.

When I first started out I figured I'd remember more on the weekends when I can sleep in, but that hasn't been the case. I've had nights during the week and on the weekend when I could recall multiple dreams, and nights during the week and on the weekend where I can't remember any dreams. It's been inconsistent whether I WBTB or if I sleep through the whole night.

Is this just something that happens from time to time, or something that will improve as I go on? Or is it probably something that I'm doing wrong?

You're doing great with your dream journal so far .

At first, your recall will be on and off like this. But after a while of improving your recall, you'll be consistently remembering multiple dreams nearly every night. Don't get discouraged though if you have a period where you just don't remember anything at all, because a lot of people, even experienced dreamers, have dry spells sometimes. As long as you stay focused on your goals and don't lose motivation, you'll push through the dry period and start recalling dreams again.
