      Sleeping on back promotes recall?

Hey guys, I'm generally a lurker but I had a very interesting experience last night I wanted to share. I was more tired than usual last night. I climbed into bed and did my usual energy work routine. Then, without dwelling on it much, I had the idea to push the energy down through my feet and hands, out of my body. This relaxed me, and probably did little more... but it led me to fall asleep on my back, when I'm generally one to claim that it's impossible for me to sleep on my back. The rest is explained in a long post I just did on my blog in my sig: 11/7/11: Dream Journal | Into The Depths

The short version is that I had a crazily vivid and interesting dream, for my case anyways. And I woke up from it after just an hour of sleep. Now, perhaps the energy work did something, but I think the main change was falling asleep on my back. When I woke up from that, I was still laying on my back, feeling kinda stiff at that. So I think that I didn't move at all for that hour.

I've heard before that sleeping on your back promotes dream recall or vividness. It certainly seemed to do so in this case, so I wanted to share this and ask for feedback/questions.
My dreams are posted here from now on: Into the Depths

Sleeping on the back could have an effect on dream recall, but it also promotes sleep paralysis. I generally try not to sleep in the supine position because every bad SP episode I've had has been due to sleeping in that position. Actually sleeping on your right side has been known to increase dream recall and lucid dreaming...and I've found this to be true for me as well. You can search the forum, there are plenty of threads about it.

I've had people tell me that each side encourages different energies, such as masculine and feminine. I buy it, but definitely worth some research.

Actually, sleeping on my back (or the corpse pose) was one of the first things i trained myself to do. Primarily to help with mantras/MILD then i discovered the added bonus of an accompanying body high. You'll get the warm tingles too if you remain absolutely still. It's pretty cool. Anyways, I recommend corpse sleeping. Helps with getting into a deep sleep right off the bat while also having you wake later on through the night -- i understand it as being more sensitive to the micro wakes -- but if you take into consideration chakras and/or chi, supine keeps you the most aligned. That's got to count for something.
