      I have no dream recall..

i have read many threads about people having problems with dream recall. Everyone's response seems to be along the lines of dream journals and making sure you dont move when you wake. well i was wondering if my alarm was the problem, to turn off my alarm i have to get up and walk a few steps and hit snooze, by the time i am out of bed i cant remember a single thing.
i do smoke weed i know its bad for recall, but i have takin B6 to try and help and nothing has improved im lucky if i remember 1 dream a week.

      Hey Tylor.

If you get jerked out of bed in the morning then your chances of remembering your dreams goes WAY down. Part of remembering involves your rational mind, so memories are stored much easier if when you wake up you don't move and focus on what you were just dreaming about.

Smoking weed isn't horrible for recall. I used to do it, and I found that it made my dreams much more vivd actually.

What I would do in your position is
      1) Move your alarm clock or use your phone so you dont have to move your whole body to turn it off
      2) Meditate before going to sleep
      3) Affirm your intention to remember your dreams all day and especially before you go to sleep.
      4) Keep a journal, not only about your dreams but about what methods you are trying and what is working/not working for you.
      5) Write down why remembering dreams is important to you. Answer the question "Why do I want to remember dreams?"
      6) Relax. Everyone has the dreams every night, its simply a matter of remembering!

      ^ What he said.

Also, my recall is way better on days when I don't have to get up and start my day immediately - in other words when I can just lay in bed for a while. As soon as you start to think about the day ahead of you - or anything concerning waking life for that matter - any dreams will just evaporate instantly from your memory. It's best to wake up and be able to lay for as long as you like with no pressing matters calling for your attention. Hard to do most days I know - best on weekends if you're in school or on days off if you have a job.

I'm not sure on the issue of whether it's better to wake naturally or use an alarm - there are points to be made for both. Sometimes when i wake naturally it's from a dream and I can remember it clearly, sometimes it seems to be from deep sleep and I don't remember anything. An alarm can wake you in the middle of a dream if you're lucky, but moving to shut it off is pretty debilitating to dream recall. Best if you have some kind of alarm that only rings a few times and shuts itself off.

I've only found regular (more than 3-5 times a week) use of cannabis clouds dream recall, having regular breaks between highs increases the vividness of my dreams.

And I'll add that inducing a sinewave of drug use is ultimately really helpful for all aspects of life, I've found. Sinewave being, not constant, but refined and specific usage.
