DREAM RECALL HELP!!!! (i cant recall 1 single dream)

Hey everyone thanks for stopping bye

right im quite new to this whole idea as i mentioned in a previous post. Ive been trying for about a week. First 2 days i tried to get into a SP but failed and noticed that i couldn't remember a single dream. So i spent the rest of the week trying to remember my dreams. I cant. i cant even remember the last time i remembered a dream. I know your supposed to wright then down in a DJ and i have one too but i cant remember any dreams to put in there :\. Ive looked around at ways to try to remember including saying "i will remember my dreams" before you go to sleep. I have tried but still nothing. I lie there in the morning just after i wake up to try to remember them but nothing comes to me. Is there something im doing wrong? is there anything that could stop or make it harder to dream recall. I see that stress could have a impact of dream recall but i don't think im stressed :S. Please guys any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Thanks

For about 10 mins try saying "I will remember my dream" before you go to bed. And give it a while. It might take a few days for it to work.

Set an alarm to 3.00-5.00 am. You should remember your dream pretty well if you wake up from it during a REM phase. Write the dream down immediately or the just write down some key words that help you to remember the dream when you read them later. After you start writing your dreams down, you recall them better and better.

      Good luck!

Not sure if you smoke cannabis, but I recently chose to cut down because of my quest for Lucidity. Make sure you aren't going to bed stressed, overtired, drunk stoned or anything. You need your mind and body to be completely in sync with itself when you lay down. If you are smoking, do what I am doing now, read it in a different thread. Cut down to 3-5 bowls a day, and don't smoke past 7PM. Last 2 nights I was able to recall dreams, comparatively to the 5 days i couldn't remember anything at all.

      Hi Calpul,
when I stumbled upon lucid dreaming in december, just putting an empty notebook on my nightstand and going to bed with the intention to remember something worked on the very first night (normally i almost never ever remembered something). This went up to about 2 or 3 dreams remembered for 3 days in a row after a week, an awesome result. However as fast as it came, I lost this ability in january and now I am back to about one dream every other night. I have not figuerd out jet but maybe it is somthing similar in your case, some small compnent, being done differently will change the outcome.

      Regards

Lower your stress throughout your day. Eat better. Find out what is wrong with your situation and try to fix it. Thats what I did. I didnt dream for 4-5 days straight, but realized It was because I was having an abnormal sleep pattern, was using drugs before bed, (cannabis and caffiene) and was having a rough week at work. Just take a step back from everything and try to see what is not working for you, and try to change it. If you cant, dont sweat it, that will cause more stress

When you wake up, try to recall as many dreams as possible before you move. Apparently moving / getting out of bed can mess with recall.
LSDreamer is right, make sure your sleeping is as normal and healthy as possible.

Even if you remember nothing write down how you feel, what is going through your mind etc. Keep this up a week or so and you'll have some kind of recall.

Are you distracted when you wake up, do you immediately start thinking about waking life?

Also try to be calm and just let the memories come to you, don't worry about not being able to remember dreams or you'll be too distracted by that to remember anything.

157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

Thanks everyone for your reply's. i have been reading through and im going to take on-board alot of your suggestions. But good news i did actually remember a dream on Sunday night. couldn't remember everything because i was already out of bed and lieing on sofa until all of a sudden i remembered a key point in the dream, ran upstairs to right in DJ and most of it came back to me. I also think i remembered a tiny bit on Monday night too. I seem to remember saying to my self that i don't have school next Monday. But i do and im pretty sure its linked to a dream but i can't remember it for the life of me. Oh well as little as it was i still put in my DJ. Perhaps your tips are starting to work already . thanks alot guys and i will be keeping you updated on the progress. Thanks Again

Drink a lot of tea that can induce dream recall before bed, like sweet gale, and some other stuff you can search on google.
As well, you will probably wake up during a rem cycle and need to take a piss.

I agree with what's been said. Try not to get too stressed during the day, and also take some time to unwind before sleeping. Try sleeping earlier than usual. You'd be surprised at the effects it brings. Overall, try to have a better and decent sleeping pattern conducive to recalling your dreams~

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Improving your memory is a strange process, unlike any other skill that you can learn, in that progress is very unpredictable and, when it occurs, it seems to come out of nowhere. Without a tracking mechanism (dream journal) it's very difficult to see a correlation between effort and improved dream recall.

What you do is not as important as the consistency of your efforts. I was in the same boat as you for many years (couldn't remember a single dream for months at a time) even though I felt I was trying. Then I decided to make a serious effort and did the following every night:

      - Repeated a mantra before falling asleep for about 10 minutes. Mine was "I'm dreaming" but it can be anything that puts the concept of dreams in your mind, rather than going over the minutiae of your day.
      - Put my laptop next to my bed so I could reach over upon waking and open it up to write down what I remembered. If I remembered nothing I wrote down that I remembered nothing and then deleted the entry. The act of physically writing stuff makes your subconscious remember that it's important to do.

To succeed at this you just need to be EARNEST. If your goal is more important to you than going to sleep when you're tired and more important than rolling over in the morning to get a few more minutes before getting up for work, you will succeed eventually, and small successes increase your motivation as you realize it's working. Last month I recorded one dream. This week I've recorded 8 dreams and I really have no idea why I'm able to remember them, I just do.
