      Lightbulb Dream Recall and Weed

Alright, so I'm a toker, simple as that. Or, at least I cut back on the toking because I'm very aware of the effects it has on dream recall. Even though I had my first lucid dream while I was in my stage of smoking, I don't see how it would help me out so I just decided to go cold turkey, for two reasons.

      1. Obviously to improve my dream recall. I haven't smoked in over a week but the strange thing is my recall has been fluctuating. It's really weird and I thought it would significantly improve over the course of this week, but I've felt like I've been trying too hard with lucid dreaming and maybe that's what's holding me back. Thinking too much, losing sleep, loss of confidence, etc. so I'll see what happens, I'm gonna play around with what's wrong with the rise and fall of my recall. But let's move on to the next reason.

      2. I've gone cold turkey before when I knew I needed to stop and after about 2-3 weeks I suffered from withdrawals. I think some of you know what these are and where I might be going with this. Vivid dreams. Now it could be possible that my dream recall is shotty right now due to the fact that I haven't smoked in nearly a week and a half and I may be showing symptoms, such as sleeplessness but that really isn't an issue. What I do experience is crazy, wild, vivid dreams that nearly seem real, and this was long before lucid dreaming entered my mind.

I wanted to experiment with this idea that not smoking for maybe another week or two can lead to a sudden, temporary, exponential increase in dream recall due to the withdrawals and possibly induce some lucid dreams, and as I stop smoking altogether, just leads to an even better recall than I had while smoking. My recall was above average while I was smoking so why can't it be exceptionally well after I just leave it altogether.

Tell me what you think and I definitely wanna hear from all you lucid stoners that might be on the forum whether you still toke now or maybe you don't. What's your experience with bud and dream recall?

      Hi, i have a theory.

Cannabis stays in your system for weeks, and if your a big time toker then it could be in your system for more than 2 months! So it could be some weeks before it is completely removed from your system, whether or not this should affect short term memory during this period is up for debate i guess, but in my experience the loss of short term memory is rather short lived, it should come back within days unless you really are a big toker and caned several ounces per week.

      Give it time.

I find that smoking helps me to relax. If I were you I wouldn't give it up because you can increase your imagination and creativity while high. Especially while dreaming. You might have to change your strains maybe try some sativas and no indica. I find that when I get that mental soaring high I can let my body go and keep my mind in the dream state. Try to smoke not to the point that your baked but that you feel a good hit. Then lie down in bed and breathe really slowly. Think of letting your body go and keeping your mind active. Think of things like space or a stair way through nothing, count your breaths or just relax and focus on letting your body sleep but moving your mind from reality to your unconscious dream state. It's best to try this method when your really tired. This helps me to see things and imagine stuff that I never could with out cannabis and it helps me keep my mind active. Practice enough and it might help you out.

I think its good that you gave up smoking. One reason is it may give you vivid dreams now if you go on and off it but once your brain takes some long term effects from the THC you will be unable to really have those anymore and just sort of mellow out. When dopamine is released in your brain, there are certain receptors that signal when to stop, what marijuana does is it inhibits those receptors from working, so your dopamine is working over time and it wears out, making you unable to feel like that when sober over the long term. I used to smoke myself, and the long term effects I've felt from it are that it has made me more lazy, a little paranoid and its harder to feel emotion, as when you are high your emotions are extreme.

Once you finally get weed out of your system and you stabilize your sleeping/eating schedule (even though I have had some vivid dreams while drunk/high) you have the potential to achieve greater if you rely purely on concentration while sober. Congrats on quitting weed btw

I used to smoke, I love it and I hope to come back to it some day, it always made my dreams more vivid and lively and beautiful.

Thank you for this, I needed to hear it. I've been without cannabis for 3 years which is sad. I live with my mom so I cant smoke. But I'm a psychonaut, and cannabis has given me vivid, beautiful thoughts. Cannabis is truly a gift from God. When I go to heaven in four years the first thing I'm going to do is ask God if I can smoke weed. It gave me good dreams, and made my mind a better place to be, and without it I feel empty and purposeless. I pray that God puts cannabis in my brain so I can feel that way again, like a hippie, like an angel. I would also love to try DMT someday. The brain produces DMT at night thats why we dream. I forget where I heard that. But I echo this poster, don't give up weed, unless you're truly addicted to it and then avoid it until you can use it without addiction, without needing it. I love and appreciate and respect cannabis, but i don't need it, and can wait to use it again.
