      Little Dream Recall

Hello everyone, I have been studying lucidity for quite a while now and have had a few low lucid dreams i think the reason i have not experienced a high lucid yet is due to my lack of dream recall. I will usually remember one very short segment but about once every two weeks I will experience a very vivid dream. Are there any easy techniques to increase dream recall?

      Thanks!

You should be keeping a dream journal. When you wake up make sure you write down anything you remember from your dream. Also, make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep each night

Well I do keep a journal but I only get about 7 hours of sleep on weekdays. But even on weekends when I get to sleep for around 9-11 hours I still dont get great recall.

I kinda have a problem with this too. However, I'm j ust not sure why keeping a journal will help me. I mean, how does that make me more aware in my dreams and make them more vivid?

      DreamGuy,
Going through the motions of keeping a dream journal will enable you become familiar with recalling dreams. The repetitive process will make it easier to pull dreams from your memory.

Suppose all dreams have the same level of vividness. Perhaps what makes them appear to be more or less vivid is how well we can recall the dreams.

I have an additional theory that's a little more out there. I think we actually have a dream mind, dreams are not random, dreams are guidance in disguise. By recalling dreams on a daily basis, it will show you are more interested in the advice being given to you. Whatever entity is giving you the advice, will be more likely to go into further detail if you are paying attention to them.

I have another idea to further push the second point. Ask the dream entity to make dreams more involving, more vivid. Ask questions, ask for guidance, etc.

Well while sitting here helping a friend with LD I just recalled.... 6 dreams from my childhood! Wow am I happy they span from when I was a young child to last week. It was a burst of them all at once not scattered. This makes me quite happy, but still doesnt help with the issue of recalling in the morning.

Just being/typing on this site tonight has initiated a flood of dreams from my childhood (non-LD's) and I'm going to try to incorporate these into tonight's effort. Your post was a catalyst.

Thank you! Maybe we'll see each other in the dream realm sometime.

I think my reply to the following thread applies here pretty well too:

I do indeed think that such a way of deducing REM periods to trigger dream recall by awakening during/right after a dream is most effective; afterall, I speak from experience and this type of method is one that may very well be effective for many if not most.
