a 43yr. old male westerner and havn't really remembered dreams since age 18 or so. during childhood there were many very vivid dreams remembered as being a part of while they were occuring, not so much controlling them but could control attitude during them so as to remain in and further them. since age 18 there have been flashes of dreams barely remembered but nothing with any length, color, sound or realization at the time that they were occurring. have several theories on why but really want to know how can envoke dreams or gain better recall of what has been dreampt regaurdless of whats going on in life at the time or has been done in the past. please give any input but perhaps more specificlly info. on the effects on dreaming due to mental states/attitudes through lifes severe ups and downs. thanx |

For some reason your not recalling your dreams....We all dream or we go crazy, so your dreaming every night just not remembering them...I dont have any advice about remembering dreams other than getting more relaxation to detatch from the waking world....When I have a busy day ahead of me as soon as I wake up my mind shifts to what is ahead and needs to be done, and I forget what was just taking place,,,on my days off I dream recall much better...Maybe your stressed and need some vacation time, or a hobby that relaxes your mind with repition...I do mosaic art, and cracking tiles rests my mind, but anything could do it. |
|
Ive said it once and i will say it again. Meditation, the only way i know to become more aware of my self or dreams is through meditation. |
|
I've talked to other mosaic artists and cracking tiles is definately a great form of meditation...you go into a real zone....any craft like needlepoint or beadwork is also great. |
|
Cool i like Mosaics... i have a cool Photo Mosaics of Yoda its sweet. And one of Bill Clinton its all nude ladies and porn. |

There are many types of meditation pertinent to your situation. |

It's not really possible to think of nothing at all. The only way I can almost think of nothing is observe "the black canvas of my eyelids" but if I do that, I'll tell myself to observe the black canvas of my eyelids and then I will try to tell myself to stop saying stuff like that and then after 2 minutes of agruing with myself I relized I have to start all over again... |

meditation is really hard, what your describing wasup is the main reason I only do it on occasion. It's very hard to turn off the internal dialogue, but once you can, it's really an amazing thing. I've done it a few times, but I usually end up doing something like this: |
|
^^^^^.....yup... |

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
Umm.. Why is it amazing? I think I tried it today and it worked without arguing with myself. |
|
I think it's amazing to experience the mind as pure thought, rather than all the babble that is usually going on up there. |
|
Don't you not want to be thinking (even if it is pure lol) while meditating? |
|
yeah...i should practice more, i really want to experiance that.. |

I think lucid dreaming is cooler than meditating.... |
|
you know what i think? i think SOMEONE really wants to be a lucid god. *points fingers at wasup* |

Say what now? I want to be a good lucid dreamer... |

Just try this little "potion" 30 minutes before you go to sleep: 1 aspirin, 50mg of B-6, and a glass of milk. This works wonders for me - though my kids say it makes their dreams too wild to handle. |

It's impossible for your mind to literally turn off, it's always processing something, unless your like... dead. Meditation is like "pure" thought, because the thoughts are not hindered by language. Language is a terribly hard barrier to overcome. Your still thinking, you just can't necessarrily put your thoughts into words... which is the point, to experience something outside of rational, normal, boring thought patterns that determine our daily activities. Think about how much language can sucks some times, because when you have an idea to express that exists outside of the language that you think in, then how can you express that idea? I think that is why people feel closer to God through meditation and dreaming and such, because our minds can describe things outside of our language in those environments, and God is completely outside our ability to describe. We try, but you know, we have to, right? |

^ very interesting, points to you! |
