      R.C.'s programmed into Unconscious

      Does anyone feel that they've done there reality check enough times that its now an unconscious habit that you no longer have to apply any/much effort towards?

      For my part, I've been reality checking fairly consistently for about 2 weeks whenever I walk through a doorway(which is fairly often), but if I'm distracted I will forget to do this.

      I was just wondering how long everyone felt reality checks had to be repeated for before becoming a habit.

      Wow, sounds like you've done a butt-load of RC's to get to that point, that is real dedication!

      One thing to watch out for though from now on is do not let them become too routine or you may find yourself reality checking in your dreams and the RC's failing. Maybe it's time to start reality checking on other waking occurances?

      I've been wondering the same thing, as I've now been doing regular RC's for 3 months, at least 6 times a day and not once have I remembered to do one in a dream - not even a failed one

      When I first tried to learn lucid dreaming I tried the more western approach (Laberge) along with doing lot's of RC's and logging of dream signs in a dream journal. I had only modest success.

      My techniques now are really more in sync with Tibetan Dream Yoga. For what it's worth - this works well for me. Perhpas you should consider taking up the more "eastern" approach?

      Wow- great feedback

      Seeker- I actually looked at my hand in a dream not to long ago.. and I thinking I've looking at my hands too much because my brain was actually able to replicate my hand fairly well.. so I didn't notice I was dreaming. Now, every time I walk through a doorway I look at my hand and quickly try to stick my finger through it.

      Vortex - Do you do doorway reality checks as well?

      Dr. Technical- I'm going to stick with this approach for a little while because it actually helps me stay more focused throughout the day (every time I do a reality check I also ask remind myself what my current intention is so I've personalized this into an ADD fighter as well.

      BUT, I am going to check out the Tibetan Dream Yogas, I've just got a few too many projects at the moment.

      I just got a copy of "Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep." It has much more insight and power than any of the New Age writings, but it's also much more lucid, clear, and open than the Eastern writings that I've come across. Thanks for the recommendation: I'm going to be very careful about incorporating this into my practice.
