      Recalling my dreams

      I am new to lucid dreaming, (I've said that a million times already LOL. Actually only three...) and I cannot remember many of my dreams. When I am asleep, I usually just see blackness for a few minutes, and then I cant remember anything else. But occasionally I have have a dream that I remember. I need help improving my recall.
      Some are born lucid, others have lucidity thrust upon them.

      Alright, a dream journal is a must. It really is. write down anything and everything is as much detail as you possibly can, you'll find this will help. Some people find that setting an alarm for every 90 minutes or so, ensuring they wake up during a dream can help.

      Also, if you remember a tiny bit of a dream, try to work out the background to it, it'll reveal more about it. For example, say you remember being in a car, think to yourself "Wow did I get in it? Why was I in it? Where did it go? What was I doing before I got in it?". You'll, with any luck remember detail about the dream you had forgotten.

      Keeping a dream journal is important, however, I find that it isn't emphasised enough how important it is to actually recall. That is, when waking up, if you don't recall anything right away, don't think that it's over.

      Lie still with your eyes closed and relax, for a while, and browse through your thougts and recent memories. This will more often than not bring about dream memories.

      And no matter what you recall or don't recall, write something in your journal for that morning. Even if it's just a slight emotion or odd feeling that you have after waking up, record it.

      Yep, Dream Journals are a standard for improving recall. As to how fast they improve it, depends on the person, but I can promise you it'll bring those numbers up [I can vouch for it personally, before I had a dream journal, one dream per night. Now, anywhere between 2-4 and a seldom 1 or 5-6]

      They also say cutting back on caffeine helps too, but I forgot how [and maybe that was just for getting to sleep].

      Lay in bed a bit after waking up to try to recall the dream, if you don't remember it then, don't worry, it'll probably get to you later on in the day.

      Everybody else basically said what you need to do, but I find that subliminals help a lot! The first night I listened to one I remembered 5 dreams. (Of course me telling you this is pretty poinless since you can just ask me in RL.)
