What sort of operation? |
|
Hi I'm new here and I've just being to hospital for an operation and was wondering if this would affect my recall at all. |

What sort of operation? |
|
Can't say much without knowing what the operation was and especially what sort of medication they have you on now, but even if they've got you on stuff I think you should be fine after you recover unless it was something major like some sort of brain surgery Hope the operation went well! |

I'm just a newb here, but I'd say that it wouldn't be so much the surgery as what drugs they put you on and the stress afterwards. I totally lost my recall for two weeks after my midterm exams because I was worrying so much about one that I didn't think that I did too well on. I'm just now starting to get it back with a few supplements (B-vitamins and ginkgo seem to be helping.) |

The anaesthetic drugs will take a couple of days to leave your body but your recall should return to normal pretty quickly. (I'm presuming you haven't had neurosurgery.) The anaesthetic drugs do not have a permanent effect but if you are on pain medication this could affect your recall for a while. Just get plenty of rest and don't operate machinery or make important decisions for 48 hours following the anaesthetic. I'm sure you will have already been told that. |
