      Dream recall is unpredictable, prove me opposite !!!

      Even, if you try the same technique, that worked for you one night, which gave you perfect vivid recall and even lucid dream. the same technique on another day helps you nothing. You may become awake few times at night, but you remember nothing.

      I guess its about the periods of time when REM occurs. How did you build your ability to wake up just on time. Did you journal the time, when you got asleep. And have you made some research? All related answers are welcome .

      P.S: I dont want the answer from book Exploring the world of lucid dreaming. But I want your own methods or suggestions

      That's happened before.

      It depends how tired you are, how motivated, and how much you think about it, I believe.

      Wow. You have same dream count as me. And the same type. Thats cool. . Your answer was cool. But i want more. Something from your personal experience would maybe help. You know. I dont like generalized information with compressed content. Lots of information is lost in generalisations.
      Tell me if you already had such situation. and how did you solve it? That could help more of us

      {that was not only for you Sticktator}

      I've definitely found that the three factors I mentioned earlier affect your recall. I've also found that if you're trying and it's not working - stop. Give lucid dreaming and everything involved a two-night rest. Usually the recall comes back to me during the first night's rest, when I haven't even tried any techniques.

      And I'm sorry I do that "compressed content" thing. I know I do it too often, and I don't know why. Most times I don't even know I'm doing it.

      Sorry. Bear with me. :]

      You dont have to be sorry about anything. That was just my general preference. Lots of people write this kind of text. I know, they want to help. Such as you wanted. But I thing analogies are better. Words can be so empty.

      Your rest method works. For sure. Still It would be nice to find out, how it works. That it brings recall. Maybe it is becouse our brain wants to play with us.

      My observation about this would be. Brain is like a kid. When we give it too much attention, it doesnt want to play, but as we show our backs. It immediately wants our attention back. .

      Now the quest is to find optimal pressure for our brain to keep it motivated withouth playing that funny game with us.

      Thanx. Other suggestions?

      I try and keep positive and confident, but the one thing you SHOULD NOT do is let yourself become excited. I've done that a few times, and the only thing I got out of it was disappointment.

      Yeah. And thats why it always works best when we dont know, what to expect. We just wonder what may come next. But after we feel the sensation, we want to have it again and again. And we feel so excited. I cant find way, how to overcome it. I thing. Now it is on trial and error.

      Or does anyone have better idea {preferrably exprience}?

      Try this:

      Talk to yourself in second person, ie "You will wake me up after every dream and I will remember them perfectly."

      Sometimes it helps to actually name your subconcious - I called mine Sticktator. It sounds sad, but just repeat this four times right now: "Subconscious, you will now be known as [name]."

      Then repeat this four times while lying in bed: "[name], you will wake me up after every dream and I will remember them perfectly.

      My normal dream recall is fragments 1-2 a night, with more fragments remembered of the later dreams.

      Lately, though, my recall has plummeted to only small fragments of dreams of any time of the night, possibly due to a combination of sleep mask use (too much darkness = too deep sleep...but darkness is supposed to be good for general health, that's why I'm using it), irregular sleep habits, and frustration with having a lot of non-lucids leading me to be less enthusiastic about writing dreams down.

      If you're motivated to keep a dream journal, and reach for it as soon as you wake up from your dreams, and are patient in letting yourself remember the details, it might help. Once you start writing down details you remember, you'll often remember more details. Well, I will, anyway, when my dream recall isn't all screwed up.
      -LD Count since rejoining in Dec. 2009: 21

      No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

      Named subconscious. It should work. Superb. Thank you. I will give it a shot. But first. I am after some experiment. I am giving myself too much sleep today and lets see what will happen. If my recall increases. It will be a form of a new recall approach for me. Question: How did it help you? Why did you name the subconscious? {was your recall too low?
      }

      I know that. And i hope you will get your recall back soon. Sometimes even the motivation is not enough. Sometimes it doesnt work. ANd i am gonna find how is it possible. {I sense... timing is behind}.

      adraw, there are always methods like alarms, drinking a lot of water, etc. anything that will wake you up during the night so you will be more likely to remember your dream.

      I admit that even with those techniques it is still sometimes hard. You are right about your mind playing tricks on you, especially when it comes to lucid dreaming.

      But with recall, there are things that you can do to help. Keep your journal right by your bed with a flashlight. Try not to move when you first wake up. Try to wake up often, however you can accomplish that.
