Second Class Summary:
Incubation is the foundation of MILD.
MILD depends only on the resources of your mind. Focusing on scenery, enjoying it vividly. Visualization varies from person to person. Some people are visual. Some people are tactile. Whatever senses work best for the individual should be used. Engage your body as much as possible. Visualization is not necessarily visual.
Incubation is based on Day Residue. Whatever we experience/thinking about intensely during the day often winds up in our dreams. As PL says we should "abuse" the day residue, that is manipulate it to suit our goals.
You do not have to incubate the entire dream - spend 5 minutes incubating. Incubate the first scenery, several times during the day. When you imagine the scene, recall the feeling of being lucid. Feel the excitement of being lucid. Feel the freedom of being lucid. Add as much detail to the visualization as possible: sounds, touches, tastes, smells, etc. Look around and visualize the sky too. Focus on becoming lucid. Feel the excitement and visualize yourself starting to fly. Feel the wind in your face, your body floating, the "bird's eye view".
Daydream the first minutes of your dream, and enjoy them. Do a lot of visualization, but don't obsess or bore your mind with it. Visualize your dream when you wake up in the morning.
If you do WBTB, it should be a continuous incubation of the dream. (More next class) Visualize your dream before going to bed. Whenever you are in bed, think about your mantras, turning lucid and incubate your dreams. Driving is a good time. Visualize a static image of the dream when falling asleep. Visualization during the day should be dynamic.
Self confidence is important. Tell yourself that you will lucid dream and believe it! Celebrate your success after each visualization:
"Damn! I had an epic lucid dream! I have to hit DV and post it right away!"
"Saying out loud, "Yes!!! Yes!!! I dreamt it!!!"
"How cool will your nickname look with those fancy wings?"
"How nice would be to say, hey Percy! I earned the wings!"
Rewards for success: The Task of the Month, the wings and orange name.
First Goal: Dream yourself flying in the desert. You don't have to do anything specific. Just be lucid and see yourself flying, for a few seconds at least.
This was a terrific class! PL clearly has genuine knowledge of this stuff. Very different from just repeating ideas. His insights are inspiring.
Unfortunately I've had the flu the past 2 weeks. :-(
It has interfered with my dream work, but feeling better today.
Starting today, I will visualize my dream first thing in the morning, at 10:00, at 2:00, at 4:00 and before going to bed. I will reread this summary daily, until I have totally assimilated it.
The adventure begins!
