      Ksirminoh's Meditation Workbook

I signed up in DV yesterday, and was very pleased to find a course on meditation, because I find that having 'classes' helps me keep focus and actually work every day.

For me meditation is a form of relaxation, purity of thoughts and inner or outer (depending on the type) awareness. I don't find it difficult to meditate and hope that I will do it on a regular basis after finishing this course. Another goal of mine is to increase my awareness before bed, which would help me have more and more lucid dreams. Besides, meditation is so calming and enjoyable that I just can't say no to the possibility of doing it every day .

Yesterday I did void meditation shortly. At first it didn't seem easy, but whenever I found myself thinking too much or focusing on a thought rather than ignoring it, I focused on my breath for a moment, and soon it was as if I wasn't thinking anymore. I was just being. Of course I had to think about how nice the experience was, and then think a little more... Overall, though, the experience was very pleasing. No lucid dream that night, do I did look at my hand before sleeping and say 'the next time I see this hand I will be dreaming' and just thinking 'I will lucid dream tonight'.

Looking forward for today's meditation and then to focal meditation!

Ksirminoh, welcome to DreamViews, and thanks for creating your meditation workbook!

For your first workbook entry, meditation is great if you want relaxation, whether in the body or the mind. Your awareness can be increased using void meditation or focal meditation, so that you'll be more aware before you go to bed. In fact, the final lesson in this class will cover a technique that involves both void meditation and focal meditation not long before sleeping.

It sounds like you understood the feeling of void meditation as you were doing it . Since you've just started, I suggest doing some more void meditation first to get a feel for meditation. But you can do focal meditation if you're interested, as everything's optional in this class.

Today's void med. was harder :/ ... I had this song I will be singing in a duet next year in my head all the time and couldn't get it out!!* Later on I was more relaxed and sometimes had one or two seconds of nothingness (not even the song). Those moments felt great but ended quickly... Maybe I should have continued to meditate more to really be able to let go of my thoughts. Tonight I'll go to bed earlier so I can meditate for longer!

      *any tips for that ?

PS: Thanks for the replies ShockWave

No problem, I'm happy to help .

My advice would be to feel excited about meditating, and have the desire to reach that state of nothingness in your mind. Keep up the meditation and don't lose your motivation, because meditation can be very rewarding. I'd recommend trying focal meditation a bit to see how it goes for you, and I'm going to be posting the last lesson in this class, tomorrow.

Yesterday's meditation was ok, but I had some back pain, although I always lean to a pillow... Anyway I won't let it get to me and will do some focal meditation today! Do you have any object that you'd consider interesting to meditate on?

I sometimes get back pains while meditating. Usually, I try shifting position a bit, and slouching my back or straightening it, depending on what I'm already doing when I get the pains. And for your focal object, I would recommend trying to find something that works for you, rather than using what I use. But if you're interested, I usually use something lying around the room, like a pen. Something not too big so that I can place it on the floor and meditate in front of it.
